Another entry in the series of stories about the life of a reluctant witch on a very haunted street in a very witchy city.

Fun fiction. A reluctant white witch, a shady angel, demonic possession, strippers and voodoo dolls. I liked this book. It may be a bit far fetched but it was an enjoyable read. Looking forward to the next book in fall.

Jade and Kane are an established couple now, but they face some seriously rough waters ahead. This book expands on the idea of Jade and her powers, and particularly how she should have been trained as a witch from an early age - an idea that she abhorred since she lost her mother to magic when she went out one night with her coven and never came home. She had disappeared, leaving Jade with a hole in her life and in her heart that she's never truly recovered from. But now Jade is embracing the craft because she has been given a glimpse of her mother - still alive but trapped somewhere by an evil demon, a former witch who used black magic and went to the dark side. Jade, Pyper, Kane, and crew are all in this one together as each is impacted by the evil witch in some nefarious way.As in the first book there is good character building, and they develop more layers and depth in this book. And the story is exciting, with lots of action for all - whether they want it or not! An entertaining enough read that I would happily get the next in the series.

I really don't know exactly how to express my disappointment in this book. I loved the first book in the series and was so excited for this one -- maybe my expectations were too high.

I spent most of the book thinking "When did Jade turn into such an annoying bitch" and "Bea, please for the love of my sanity give some more instruction to Jade other than just telling her to do something." I was also expecting some more explanation about a few things from the last book.

Pros: I continue to love all the supporting characters especially Pyper and Kat. The storyline was very engaging and interesting.
Cons: Jade's character seemed to actually regress in this series and the story seemed to really drag at the end - thought I would never finish the story. And honestly -- how much torture can one character take -- poor Dan.

I'm very skeptical to read/continue this series after this book. I will probably take a break from this series for awhile.

Book Title: Witches of Bourbon Street (Jade Calhoun Novel #2)Author: Deanna ChasePublished By: Bayou Moon PublishingGenre: Supernatural Recommended Age: +18Reviewed By: Emily Tuley / AngelsCryHavocBlog Reviewed For: Great Minds Think Aloud Literary CommunityRating: 5 RavensDeanna Chase really pleased me with her first book on this series so much so that when I heard of this second book and that there was a chance to read it out there I went on the hunt to find it. When I did I was so pleased to find that I was not going to be disappointed. Though it has it’s spots of romance the scenes are always tastefully done and leave one waiting for the next, but the book does not just revolve around that. Something that to many supernatural romance books have a tendency to do they often just loose sight of the concept that they first start with and leave you wondering what the point of it all was. This is why I rave about this author she has yet to do this to me and makes me keep turning the pages. I stay up at night when I start her novels just to finish them. For that I have to thank her. We pick up in this book a time later after the first book of Jade , she’s still going strong with Kane and she’s happy, Bea has started trying to train her in the white magic after finding out that Jade is a very strong white witch. It would be a lot easier if Jade would just give in and learn instead of being so adamant of hating magic and wanting nothing to do with it. She has a good reason for her hatred but it’s something she’s faced with getting over especially if she wants to save her family, friends and life once again as Jade has a run in with Meri a demon that’s hell bent on revenge and doesn’t care who she uses or who gets in her way. Once again Deanna Chase has out done herself and I can not wait for the next book in this series and just how it will play out.
