It was the first thing I said on Pirate’s feed and it was true. Interference between my comp-shades and Pirate’s drone created little bursts of static when I spoke.

That is the one thing I won’t do. For as long as I have left, I will only give you truth.

But that was later, after I’d met Pirate.
I left Tommi’s in a rage, barely noticing the weight of my bag. I stalked through clumps of rotting garbage as the grimed alley walls leaned in. My fists clenched themselves as I moved, aching for a throat.
Stopping, I looked around. Punching the shades up for light-enhancement and heat-signature I made sure there was no one in direct line-of-sight. Pulling the bag around to rest on my belly, I grabbed the zip and yanked.
My right hand dove in, fishing around. It found what it wanted between two of my three remaining concussion grenades. My arm pulled back and the hand came out, its prize clenched tight. Pausing, I stared at the pair of shock-gloves before forcing my fingers open. The gloves expanded as
