About this ebook
'Idle hands are the devil's tools'. Twelfth century saying.
Alf and Bert, security guards, play with an experimental gadget that transports them back to the twelfth century.
Frightened to tamper with history, they tread carefully–at first.
Unable to withstand the challenge, they enter a tournament, fight with knights, and forget the threat to history.

I was born in Essex, England, in 1951.My early days of work as an engineer led me to Norway where I met my future wife Kari. She moved to England where we married and raised our two daughters. We moved back to Norway in 1985.My wife and I now live far in the north, well within the Arctic Circle, in the land of the midnight sun. Life here is slow and comfortable, blessed by unspoilt nature and its magnificent moods.Being creative in the written form gives me vast pleasure. I hope, dear reader, you will take a break from your world and lose yourself in one of mine.

Yoikes
'T he young masters are home again,' said Bert. Two huge Alsatians rested their heads on his knees. He stroked them as if they were his children.
Alf's bare fist thudded against a reinforced punchbag, rattling the chains holding it to the ceiling and floor. 'Yeah. I know. Me and Master Russell went for a run this morning.' His fist thudded again, threatening to split the hard canvas. 'If I had a son, I'd want him to be like Master Russell. I'd make him the greatest street fighter in history.'
Bert stood. His massive bulk blocked light from the window. 'I'm going up to the mansion. Coming?'
'Nah, not yet. Young Master Trevor is busy working on one of his inventions. Get away from the light before I knock your thick head off.'
Bert turned sideways slightly and ducked to squeeze through the door. His Alsatians followed close at heel. Normally, Alf and him had a sparing punch-up about this time of day, not stopping until one of them drew blood, but the young Cloud brothers were home and Bert couldn't wait to give his employers a hearty thump on their backs. He needed to see if they were healthy and happy.
'I'll come in a bit,' said Alf, snatching up his skipping rope and sending the string whizzing. His muscles bulged and rippled, and his heavy-booted feet bounced like a tap-dancer.
Bert didn't wait. The mansion was strictly private and it was their job to make sure it stayed that way. They were security and the young masters would expect a report. Despite his size, his pace made the Alsatians trot to keep up.
He entered the mansion by the kitchen door and acknowledged Sibyl with a nod. She stood over the stove, and the brothers sat at her table drinking mugs of tea. Russell jumped to his feet, stretched his long arms around Bert's neck, and gave him a good squeeze. Trevor lifted his hand. Bert smacked
