Setting
The entire play takes place in a grocery store. Covering the entire back wall is a row of shelving with various products stacked on it. There are two more aisles of products, each moving from upstage to downstage in a V
shape. The lighting is florescent and extremely garish. There is a sign hung on the back wall above the shelves which reads GRAND OPENING.
Lights up on MAN and WOMAN. MAN carries a red shopping basket with a bottle of ketchup in it. WOMAN is wheeling a shopping cart that contains exactly one mango, three stalks of asparagus, a box of instant oatmeal and 16 cloth dish towels. Canned music plays softly on the store intercom. MAN is on the far side of the aisle stage left.
