      Introduction

      I started making money online sometime around 2005. Back then, sponsored blog posts and AdSense sites were all the rage with the make money online crowd. Being a complete noob, I jumped right in and began doing what everyone else was doing.

      At the time, making money online was something that I did in addition to my full-time job. I had just finished my MBA and was in the process of looking for a higher paying day job with my new degree. While I was initially seeking some of those almost six-figure jobs, it did not take long for me to realize that for a little less pay I could get a decent salary and still have time for my online projects.

      As I began making more and more money from my online endeavors, it became obvious that there was real potential to earn not only the same amount from home as from my day job, but possibly even more. With that thought in mind, I began using more and more of my spare time to ramp up my efforts online to see just how much I could make from it.

      In early 2009 when the U.S. recession started, I was laid off from my job as a financial analyst. That was all it took for me to determine that I would not be returning to a cubicle. I was already making a decent part-time side income from my online work, so I knew that it was just a matter of scaling it up. At the worst case scenario, I figured I could give it a try while I was collecting unemployment.

      Within two months, my online earnings were matching what I had earned in my job. And that was not the best part. I could sleep as late as I wanted, wear whatever I wanted for work and I didn't have to deal with rush hour traffic or a boss on a power trip. This is a taste of freedom unlike no other.

      By June of 2009, I was making enough money to take a two week vacation to Vail. In the week before I left for that trip, I made close to $2,000 - in that single week. In 2012 and 2013, I have been averaging around $7,000 per month from working online. I could probably make more but I am addicted to travel. Most of the time, I will work for three weeks and then I will take two to three weeks off from work to do some traveling. This is the kind of
