    Chapter One

That’ll be five dollars and fifty cents Miss, the lady at the counter said to Katie. Katie looked in her purse to find the money, and found a ten dollar note, which she handed to the woman.

Thanks, the assistant said, as she clicked on the cash drawer, handing Katie the change, and her small bag of groceries.
