About this ebook

Born in the flames of Heaven’s wrath, he’s all things sinful and too dangerous to love.

An immortal guardian of the human race, Aethan has walked alone for millennia, trapped in a hell of his own. Until a feisty mortal crosses his path. A female he shouldn’t even look at, one who shakes the precarious foundations of all that he is, and one who’s determined to walk the edge of danger.

She only wanted to be normal...

All her life, Echo Carter wanted “normal”, an impossible feat given that she can see demons. Drawn back to the alleys of New York, she’s determined to hunt down the one responsible for the death of her friend. And no man, no matter how sexy, will stop her. Until she discovers a horrifying truth about herself, forcing her to turn to the one man she should avoid. Aethan.
But when two stubborn wills collide, a dangerous passion ignites.

As evil closes in, Aethan has to overcome his darkest fears and claim Echo as his. If he doesn't, he just could lose her to a far more sinister fate...

This is a re-edited version with an added epilogue.

It took me a week to get through this book. Not that it's bad, it's just when you put it down, it's very hard to get back into.

First of all, kudos to the author for trying something different with an angel/demon story.
There were a lot of things I liked about it. I loved the mythology.
Loved Aethan. I can't tell you much about him because I would spoil the book, but basically he's from a race of mutant angels. I think?
The other guardians - Blaez and Tyr, Michael and yeah, even Dagan - all great characters and I loved them. You could feel the brotherly love between them, they act like a small family.

Echo annoyed me with her insecurities and just being a major PITA for the majority of the story.
Aethan tells her he wants her, and she just doesn't hear it. I swear, I constantly wanted to smack her on the head. Nothing she did in this book made much sense to me, she was so irrational and hot-headed it couldn't make for a likable female character.
And for the most part, her character was inconsistent.
I just sort of ignored her.

But Kira kicked ass. I loved Kira.

It's major insta-love between these two - but then again, there's the whole concept of them being destined soul-mates so I guess it worked.

The truth is, it's the writing that put me off majorly in this book. Sentence after sentence, the author uses the same pattern over and over again. It started to grate on my nerves by the end.

There are a lot of POV characters. Some (Lazaar and Lila, Dagan) only get a few sentences, others get more (Andras, Tyr), and most are reserved for Aethan and Echo.
I cannot begin to explain how much I disliked this. It felt like the author introduces a character and then you get a few sentences from their POV. It's just so you know what's going on on the other side, too. Makes you wonder how authors ever manage to tell a single POV story.

There is some major overuse of words mate, female and male. Oh and claiming. I just wished anyone would claim her already.
Another thing, I understood why Aethan would go on and on about mate, mate, mate, but all of a sudden she starts doing it too.

And then you get the last ten percent of the story, and it's all very rushed. The story is really on the long-ish side, and I wished I had gotten a proper ending, not just hastily tied loose ends (and not all of them, either!)

All of this being said, I loved the world Ms Hunter created. I always appreciate when authors take a recycled story and make something new out of it.

There are a couple of mildly graphic sex scenes, for those who like to know these things upfront.

Will I be reading the next book in the series? Most probably. There's a character mentioned once or twice in this book that I read should be the main character of the next one, and I was really curious about him (though I was also hoping for a Blaez/Kira story.)
So yeah, I'd recommend it, just don't put everything else on hold to read it.

Oh, and look at that gorgeous cover! So pretty.

I don’t mind a long book, but I do mind it when there is not that much to tell. That was the case with this book.

Enjoyed the book, magical, loved the dialogue between the characters, the terminology is current and humorous. Action packed with suspense and supernatural intrigue. Sexual romping were mind tingling umm yep. It’s one of those books you can’t put down. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Wow... its been a while since ive read a 4 1/2 books in a single day!... Or, if you wanna get technical i read the 4 1/2 books set within this world in 2 days....lol. Save 2 say, i may have, almost, but likely, definitly, annoyed the world around that weekend... so, it was a good thing i really didnt notice, lol...

HEADS UP... THIS REVIEW IS NOT SPECIFIC TO THIS BOOK, BUT INSTEAD CONSISTS OF MY OPINION ON WORLD GEORGIA HAS CREATED.

I came upon this author by accident and got sucked in the 1st chapter... Only thing that Sucked, the series is pretty new, & there4 had me wishing i had come across this author/series a few years down the road, that way, there would have been more books to catch up on!!! Cant wait for the next book, & im not really caring about which series her next installment springs from as long as its set within the "Guardians of the Realm" world which she has created!! lol. I found myself laughing aloud whenever the MC's had they're witty "tête-à-têtes", and could picture some of my friends using her come backs... ive had a difficult time finding a an author who writes smartass comebacks without sounding forced... JR WARD is a savant at this, and I can count the rest on both my hands,... which i now include Georgia in that list..lol . The world she created wasnt ur usual vamp/shifter prn, and though upon reading the synopsis, 1 may dismiss it as a typical angel/demon prn... dont b so quick to judge... because her characters, plots, story climaxes, and conclusions, will have u laughing, crying (yup i cried), and finally smiling to urself in such a way that forces u to abruptly look around the room & 2 make sure no 1 laid witness to the truck load of emotions on display over a simple book.
