The day Barack Hussein Obama was elected to the highest office in the United States of America as its 44th President, a major part of Martin Luther King's famous dream was realised. Obama was the first African American to hold that position and his Presidency marked a new direction for American aspirations and a clear break with the previous administration's policies. His accession to the Presidency in 2009 saw America's standing rise around the world. Despite the many setbacks Obama has suffered at the hands of his opponents, he is highly regarded internationally. His famous slogan, 'Yes, we can!' has been taken up by people everywhere who are desperate to improve their quality of life.
