      When I was growing up I often disobeyed my parents wise counsel and advice. At the age of  five I had the typical impulses of a boy to disregard my mother’s warning again while she was preparing a family meal. It was not the first time or sadly even the last. My mother warned me to be careful and not to touch the hot plate. Of course, it challenged my curiosity and demanded a scientific experiment for proof. And because the plate was black and not red hot I needed to verify by hands-on experience if the information was true or not. So I placed my tiny hands on the black plate and held it there for a few seconds before the my foolishness was rewarded with pain and tears. Mothers will attest how their boys’ passion for exploration often excels their IQ scores. Boys will be boys. Unfortunately, this chase for vainglory also has bitter consequences in our teen and adult lives. And because not all sins are punished quickly men and women, boys and girls, continue to push the boundaries of exploration.

      Through the window of my apartment, I looked down onto a local cafe corner and saw a young man void of understanding leaning against the wall. Soon a woman cunning in heart and dressed in high heels approached him in pretense. She is well known in this neighborhood for being loud and obnoxious and whose feet refuse to stay at home. She often strolls down that particular avenue to chat up with total strangers. And when she saw him, she did not hesitate to do the same. Today is your lucky day, she said. And tonight is going to be a good night if you want. We can dance and have some fun on the way. Escort me and let us take our fill of love until the morning and let us cheer ourselves with passions. My bed is decorated with charms to spend the night in white satin and perfumed sheets. Lucky for us, my good husband is out of town and won’t be back for at least another night. Charmed by her offer, the young man eagerly shows his willingness to fulfill her devilish wish. And so, with much fair speech and flattering lips, she compels him till he caves into her sways with hugs and kisses. Yet he knows not that it is his life set on a noose. Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not catch fire? Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not burn? So is the cheater who plays it cool with his neighbor’s wife. Lust not after her beauty in your heart, neither let her take you with her eyelids, for the adulteress trophy hunts and collects souls. Whoever teases her will not be found innocent. He who commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding and destroys his own soul. His honor will be reduced to a piece of bread for sleeping with a whore. Thus, a wound and dishonor will he get, and his reproach will not be erased. And the rage of a jealous spouse will not spare in the day of vengeance. Nor will betrayed victims accept ransom or gifts to cool their anger.

      So be wise and hear me out. If you truly love life, then attend to these words from my lips. Let not your heart stray to her ways or onto her path. She has a long list of casualties. Yes, many strong men have been slain by her. Her house is the doorway to hell, going down to the chambers of death where the dead await judgment day. No one that goes in to her returns to take hold of the ways of life again. You cannot beat her at her own game. Her facades are like fluids flowing through your fingers. Listen to my warning, and save yourself from her entrapment.

      For a foolish woman is clamorous, superficial, and ignorant too. She
