About this ebook
Twin sisters, Sophie and Felicity, now have their very own Magic Book! It’s their prized possession, gifted to them from The Queen of Serenia (home to the fairies). They start to wonder if there will ever be a cause to use it, when Felicity runs headlong into an underwater adventure, with Sophie close behind. When the girls find themselves out of their depth, an extraordinary rescue by some very unusual new friends leads the girls on to make discoveries way beyond their wildest dreams in a hidden world - just off shore from their favourite beach too! But, peace is shattered in an unforeseen and dramatic turn of events. Tragedy strikes Mermaid City! It seems their only hope is The Magic Book - but how can it help - left high and dry, back up on the beach? Luckily, it has a few surprises left to reveal!

My twin girls, Sophie and Felicity, told me this weekend that I’m still a teenager! Yay! They added that it’s not just because I scrape in at a petite five foot tall, still love to ride ponies and roller skate (well, my husband does have a roller skating club!) But that I also write great stories filled with magic, fairies, mermaids and Unipegs (horses; half Unicorn, half Pegasus ) all on their request! They didn’t mention whether my looks are those of a teenager, other than my height - and I wasn’t brave enough to ask! My plan was for just the one book, but I happily went on to write book two then three and now there is a fourth. Okay, I admit it, I’m addicted to writing! It’s absorbing, mind-stretching and exhilarating - especially when I see my children become so excited as I read to them. Unless, of course, I’m trying to get them to sleep, that is. So be warned; they’ve (happily) been described as ‘page turners’ by my readers - and that includes the parents who enjoyed them too. In fact, I'm really excited to be able to share with you that a recent Bloomsbury critique of my first two books, has described them as: "Plot-driven, imaginative stories, that I can see having real appeal for younger readers." And as having, "vivid characterisation and an inventive world." Very encouraging feedback from such a well respected, mainstream publisher! I also enjoy my time out on school visits, 'book-ish' fun days at bookshops and working as an Ambassador for The Publisher's Association, helping to promote reading - of which I'm passionate about! I hope you enjoy reading and sharing my stories with your children for years to come, as much as I have enjoyed creating and sharing them with mine :) Right, on with book 5!

Dedication:
I dedicate this book to my Grandmother, Nora Squire, reunited in September 2014, with her equally special husband, Percy. Nora was an exceptional lady, who’s missed daily, but lives on in the hearts of all her family which she loved dearly. Her strength, love and determination in everything she did, despite the odds, spurs me on daily, to make the most of every day that I’m blessed with, until we meet again.

A Day at the Beach
Sophie flung back her covers and wound her way to the window through scattered toys and books. Poking her head up through the bottom of the curtains, so as not to flood the room with light in case it woke her twin, Felicity, she looked east – YES! The sun was already burning off the damp morning haze – it was going to be a perfect day for their family trip to Eastbourne, their favourite seaside destination.
Twisting around, she peered through the dimness to read the illuminated clock face sitting on her bedside table. It read 5am - still too early to be up, her parents would say. Her gaze was then drawn to a brightly coloured, woven shoulder bag which hung from a clothes hook, next to their full-length mirror. A flutter of excitement danced in her stomach, knowing it contained an extraordinary gift from the fairies of Serenia; a magic book! Taking it, she settled herself back into bed, clutched it to her chest and day-dreamed of more adventures with their new, winged friends.
The girls swung their legs out the car and swapped their shoes for skates. The smell of fresh coffee from the little car park café mingled with the fresh sea air. It was a welcome stop for hungry and thirsty cycleway users. Seagulls strutted around the small, metal tables, checking for crumbs. One was boldly eyeing the new arrivals. Felicity felt like its prey under its unblinking, intimidating scrutiny, and stood up ready to skate.
Stopping at the skate park, the four of them watched with admiration as children as young as five scaled the ramps on scooters, bikes and skateboards, fearlessly doing tricks that defied gravity. A few scabby knees bore testament to the fact that it wasn’t as easy as they made it look. Much to their mother’s relief, Sophie and Felicity were happy to watch and not join in!
The route always became busier from this point and called for some skilful weaving around excited dogs chasing seagulls, toddlers wobbling on tricycles and large pebbles strewn across the tarmac like landmines, waiting to stop them in their tracks should they hit one.
By the time they returned to the car, unscathed, everyone was more than ready for a picnic on the beach.
Finally, Felicity blew out, rubbed her full tummy and returned an untouched sandwich to the cool box. I can’t eat another thing!
Sophie threw her last crust to a seagull, stood up and yawned. I’m going to lie down for a bit,
she said, crawling into their little blue beach tent.
Felicity glanced over at her parents. They were absorbed in conversation, chatting about what they were going to do next to their garden. Boring! she thought. Budge over a bit, Sophie.
Stretched out, side by side, the twins relived their adventures of the week before at school with the fairies in Serenia.
I never would have imagined that The Great Oak would have been so special!
Felicity enthused.
Mmm, that was the best week of my life, meeting REAL fairies - and saving Serenia!
Sophie agreed. Who’d have thought that we’d be rewarded with a copy of Queen Tara’s Magic Book as a thank you?
Pity it has to disguise itself as a plain notebook when it’s out of Serenia,
Felicity said. But I do understand why - when anything you draw in it can come to life!
Yes.
Sophie agreed. It wouldn’t be a good idea to draw attention to itself. Imagine if it got into the wrong hands!
"It doesn’t bear thinking
