Classic Anatomy Bodybuilding - Steve Speyrer

    Foreword

If you can find Leonville, Louisiana, you might be lucky enough to run into Steve Speyrer, husband, father, personal trainer, natural bodybuilder, and all around good guy. Steve may live in a small, out-of-the-way place, with his wife Stephanie, their daughter Alexis and son Noah, but his impact on the sport of bodybuilding and fitness extends far beyond there. Steve owns the Classic Anatomy Gym, one of the greatest gyms in America because it features not just an array of equipment, but the personal teaching and expertise of Steve himself. For years he trained bodybuilders, powerlifters and fitness people, but is in such demand that now he trains only a select few private clients. Those who know recognize Steve as one of the most knowledgeable and best trainers around.

Steve was born in 1966, still keeps a contest-shape 170 pounds on his 5’10 frame. He has a proportionate, aesthetic, classic physique, says, I admire Vince Gironda’s physique, also Steve Reeves and the classic look. Steve has developed many innovative training and nutritional approaches over the years, and says, Discover and keep what works for you, discard the rest. Your character and behavior determine how others look at the sport. Train for yourself and as long as you’re making improvements, you’re a winner! Compete for fun, enjoy it."

Steve is a true family man, so enjoys doing things with his wife and kids. He emphasizes that family is far more important than bodybuilding or fitness, and that keeps things in perspective. Steve is modest, though he has won many drug-free titles, such as the Mr. Louisiana, Mr. Southern States, Mr. USA, Mr. Southern World, the Power Surge Powerlifting Championships, and many others, including the AAU Mr. North America and the AAU Mr. Universe, but he gets his greatest joy in helping people succeed. Steve’s a busy guy. In addition to running his Classic Anatomy Gym and training clients, he’s actively involved in his community. Yet with all this he still finds time to spend with his family, his main priority.

Steve has been a tireless worker for drug-free bodybuilding, health and fitness, is a great instructor, and a decent, caring guy. It’s good to see good things happen to one of bodybuilding’s best.

    Introduction

You might wonder why I’ve written this book. You probably haven’t heard of me. After all, I’m not a superstar bodybuilder, famous in the sport. I don’t have the big titles of some of the other name bodybuilders, and I certainly don’t have any movie deals nor am I a household name.

I’m probably a lot like you. You may have gotten interested in bodybuilding by something you’ve seen or read, then started working out and tried to look like the guys in the magazines or on videos. But it doesn’t happen. That’s when confusion usually sets in. I know it did with me.

That’s where I think I can help. I’ve spent years not only training and dieting, I’ve searched for, researched, found, tried and develop—and continue to develop–all kinds of information that I’ve put to use in my own training and have helped others use.

I have always tried to share what I’ve learned, and I keep learning. I have been in the gym business and have trained many of my students and clients successfully. They often reach or surpass their self-improvement goals, which may be as modest as losing a few pounds to aspiring to compete in figure, bodybuilding or power lifting contests. I’m happy to share this knowledge with you in this book.

I think I have a story to tell. You may recognize the personal struggles and difficulties it took me to get to where I am today. And I think by sharing that story, with the good and the bad, it might help just one person—maybe more, and that will make it worthwhile.

What follows is my approach to training and dieting that may benefit you. I’m hoping it will.

    Thanks for reading.

    –Steve Speyrer
