    Chapter 1

Another Jamieson bites the dust. Cameron Jamieson grinned, pumping his younger cousin’s hand. Minutes earlier, Aaron Ace Jamieson was officially taken off the market. As far as Cameron was concerned, it took the man long enough to get his act together. After all, a woman was only pregnant for nine months. His cousin had cut it close with the former Talise Rogers. The guilt trip was on him when he deserted her.

Elder Lane conducted the brief ceremony in the church office. Cameron stood in for Ace and the bride’s roommate, Lois, stood by Talise’s side. The only others in attendance were the groom’s mother and the bride’s father.

If the December weather had not been so punishing with its freezing temperatures, icy roads, and prediction of heavy snowfall on the way, nothing would have stopped more Jamiesons from witnessing this grand event.

Cameron waited for his turn in the impromptu receiving line. Despite Talise’s pregnant state, she radiated beauty and glowed with happiness.  She smiled before reaching out to hug him under the watchful eyes of her new husband. Thank you so much for believing in me. Otherwise, I don’t know if we would be standing here today.

Thanks for making a decent man out of him. You’ll keep him in line. You know how those stubborn Jamiesons are, but good guys always win. Congratulations and welcome to the family. Cameron returned her hug and winked.

Then he shook the pastor’s hand, who he had met the few times when he had visited the church. Sandra Nicholson, Ace’s mother, was beaming.
