    Introduction

Whale watching can be one of the most amazing and thrilling experiences. Whales are some of nature’s most prolific creatures and watching them play and roam in their native habitat can be a wonderful way to spend some time on vacation.

The sites you see will be awe inspiring and most people truly think they are amazing. To see such a large creature up close and personal is something you will keep with you forever. One cannot grasp the beauty and size of these creatures without seeing one in their native habitat. Whale watches allow you to do that and more.

There are few things in life better than watching something with your own two eyes while someone explains and teaches you about what you are seeing. You leave the watch not only smarter and more informed but with a greater respect for nature as well.

In this book you will get some tips, pointers, and advice on how to get the most from your whale watch experience. Read the entire book and find out when the best time is to go, how the weather might play a key role, and several things you should do and know to get the most out of your experience.

Whale watching is a very relaxing and rewarding way to spend your time whether on a day outing or part of your vacation. It combines the outdoors, nature, emotions and excitement all rolled into one.

No matter where you go or what you might see, always remember that you are witnessing part of nature and that you should always be respectful of the whales and the waters in which they reside. Treat both with the respect they deserve so that people generations from now will be able to experience the same sites that you and I see today.

    A Personal Message

For those who know me, they know that I am not a huge fan of nature. While I appreciate it very much and respect it as well, I am not one to go to nature preserves, flower shows or to most museums. I’m telling you this not because I am proud of this, but because it speaks volumes about how I feel about watching whales.

I figure over the years I have gone on about 30-40 whale watches. When we go to Hawaii, it is among the first things we look to schedule. The question is never if we are going on a whale watch but instead, when and how many watches will we do.

We average about 3 whale watches a vacation and we go because both my wife and I thoroughly enjoy them. It is not because I go because she likes them. I go because I like them every bit as much as she does.

The last vacation we took we did our standard 3 whale watches. The second one was on an older boat that we had never been on before. It was about one third filled. Which was nice because we could sit where we wanted and move around a bit.

But midway through the watch two whales came up really close and things went a little crazy. I stood there watching with my mouth
