1. The Characteristics of a Great Pyrenees Puppy and Dog
Another name for the charming Great Pyrenees would be as what many call it, the Pyrenean Mountain Dog. If you look at the dog’s length, the tail seems the same length as its body. A well-rounded crown and good body to match with, the Great Pyrenees is surely one of the cutest dogs you would find around. Cuter features on the Great Pyrenees would be the nose and the lips, which are black. However, mind the teeth, for they could be sharp as razors. In addition, who can miss out on the lovely medium shaped eyes, which come in almond or black. The ears are shaped as V’s and hang low to the head of the Great Pyrenees.
The Great Pyrenees coat is double layered and very weather resistant. It has a fine and dense undercoat, which seems woolly and it is. The coat on the outside is coarse, long, thick and without much volume. The shoulders and the crane of the neck for the Great Pyrenees would have a mane, male dogs have thicker manes than females. The tails are well feathered and so are the back of each legs too. Now you would find the Great Pyrenees in white, whitish tan, wolfish gray, brownish red and even a simple yellow pale shade as well.
Just because the Great Pyrenees looks like a big toy, it doesn’t mean he cannot guard your home. He is most certainly capable of doing the needful and you can trust him with his loyalty for the same. He could be very wary when strangers are around, both human and animals. The Great Pyrenees in fact at one point of time were known for their livestock guarding skills.
If he isn’t poked the wrong way, the Great Pyrenees can be a well-mannered boy, calm and composed, with a look of seriousness on his face. Trust him to be very courageous, obedient and most loyal to the family members around. He can show his affection and gentle attributes when need be and is very unconditional in the sacrifices he makes. The Great Pyrenees loves kids and when the kids and he are raised together, they become the best of friends, and a loyal protector.
As a Great Pyrenees owner, you have to get the dog to socialize, and teach him not to be dominating. Don’t treat him, as a human, or else he would become territorial and stubborn. As an owner of the Great Pyrenees, you have got to be calm and firm while training him, show him through your confidence who leads the way, which is you, not him.
Keep calm and patient while training him, for he can be a stubborn yet a serious learner. Always take the Great Pyrenees out for his daily walk, for if he is kept inside for long periods of time, the dog tends to become destructive. In addition, if you have cats at home, the Great Pyrenees would love to be friends with them also. Always have a leash on the Great Pyrenees or else they would wander away.
The Great Pyrenees has bloating issues, and can suffer from bone cancer, hip issues and skin issues as well. They aren’t meant for city apartment living and need a lot of space to live well, and have a nice life.
2. What You Should Know About Puppy Teeth
––––––––
There is no doubt about it, puppies are going to chew on things! Dogs will have 28 baby teeth, and 42 permanent teeth. When a puppy is roughly, 2 to 3 weeks old, their baby teeth start to come in. All their baby teeth should be in place by roughly 8 weeks of age.
The puppy’s new teeth are very tiny and sharp, and will hurt your fingers when they get a hold of them. Most mothers will start to wean their babies at 5 to 6 weeks old.
Your puppies baby teeth will start to come out around 8 to 12 weeks of age. By roughly 8 months old, your dog’s permanent teeth should all be in. You should make sure that all baby teeth are out, so that a tooth does not get left in, and another one comes in and crowds the space, and gives your dog pain. You would need to visit the vet if you see this happening.
Your puppy is going to want to chew on something, just like a real baby, their teeth are coming in,
