About this ebook
Author Emericus Durden has developed the first comprehensively new approach to occult theory and practice in more than 50 years. His latest book - Occultism: Striving To Leave, Striving To Create - systematically lays out his entire approach, beginning with an introduction addressing why occultism matters to a modern audience steeped in science and cynicism, then launching into all three ‘phases’ of Mr. Durden’s occult methodology.
Based on more than 15 years of intense occult practice in a variety of different personal circumstances, Mr. Durden’s methodology generates real practical results on both the spiritual and material planes. The approach itself is highly synthetic, incorporating ideas, theories, and physical forms drawn from Western and Eastern traditions, then reconfiguring them into a coherent system reflecting the increasingly broader ‘perspectives of awareness’ the trainee experiences as he or she advances along the path.
‘Infinity acting on infinity’ is the final goal, of course: conscious creation of a material world immaculately aligned with the inner vision of a stabilized imagination and the force of a fully realized will.
Emericus Durden
For the past decade, Emericus Durden has been busy creating original, disruptive works of art - both literary art and visual art (still photography). Only recently has he begun presenting his works to the public. In everything he creates, Mr. Durden strives to create works that are intellectually challenging, perhaps even disturbing, though always exciting, suspenseful, and entertaining. In his writings, Mr. Durden has focused on a wide variety of topics, ranging from the sublime - philosophy and spirituality (e.g., "Aiming Higher Than Civilization") to the much more hellish - murder and brainwashing (e.g., "Two Heads Equal Two Hands" and "Great & Mighty Things").Readers concur - you cannot walk away from anything Mr. Durden writes without feeling shaken up and therefore without having grown internally, which is probably all that matters in our lives. Right?

Reviews for Occultism
1 rating1 review
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This book purports to be a self-contained system of occult theory and practice. It may be in fact be that - I'm not qualified to say really. But I am certain of this: it's an outstanding summary of occult ideas developed in the West over the past century or more. For that reason alone it's a book probably worth having around.
The same author also writes about and publishes on his philosophical system of 'skeptical nihilism' in a number of other essays - some of that information appears briefly here in a sub-section of one of the chapters. Otherwise, everything in this book is new (relative to what the author has published before).

Occultism: What it is and why it’s so valuable
Occultism means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. In this book, occultism refers to a method of expanding one’s identity to generate increasingly rich life experience. Carefully unpacking that definition, we appreciate that occultism is a practice focused on enhancing who we are to create highly positive effects in our lives.
The above paragraph makes no mention of the following: witchcraft, demonology, devil-worship, Satanism, secret societies, brainwashing cults, Masonic conspiracies, the Illuminati, secret oaths, psychedelic drugs, and vampires. If you are interested in any of the things I just listed, you will not find them in this book. If you are interested in learning about ‘mind control,’ you will find much valuable information here, all of it focused on how to control your own mind, not on how to control someone else’s mind or on how someone else might be controlling your mind. If you’re seeking joy and enthusiasm, you will find those here in abundance; if you’re seeking fear and paranoia, you’ve come to the wrong place.
At the time of this writing, I’ve been studying and practicing occultism daily for the last 17 years (since the age of 30). That’s no exaggeration – occultism has been on my mind, in some manner or other, every single day for the last 6,205 days. I know that successfully practicing occultism requires intense dedication and commitment, but I also know that occultism’s eventual payoff (literally and figuratively) is huge.
Offering this book is the next best thing I can do to living in the immediate presence of every interested reader. I therefore write and publish these words to share my knowledge with the wider world, which can only benefit therefrom. If this book were to enjoy wide readership (I already know it will), and if all its readers were to become enthusiastic occultists (I already know many of them will), the sudden increase in spiritual and material success throughout the world would not detract one iota from my own continued success. Occultism offers each of us individually, as well as society at large, only upside – but it’s a lot of work at first.
As human beings, our highest goal is to evolve – but we have little chance of evolving if we cannot create – and we have little chance of creating if we do not know who we are.
Such is the fundamental message of this ‘training manual.’ If you’re an experienced practitioner of occultism, you must already grasp that message at a high level, while if you’re new to occultism, the message may seem cryptic, abstract, perhaps meaningless. In any case, by the end of this book, the message will have anchored itself in every reader’s mind (indeed, if you’ve read this far, it already has), and every reader will thus, in his or her unique manner, be on his way to spiritual and material prosperity.
I’ve organized this book to reflect the structure of its fundamental message, with Phase One focused on awareness (learning who we are), Phase Two focused on creation (learning how we create our lives right now), and Phase Three focused on evolution (learning where we go after this life).
But before we begin with Phase One, I believe it’s important to consider the practice of occultism in the broader context of our daily habits and current social conventions. This will help motivate the study of occultism and clarify what it strives to achieve on both the individual and social level.
Occultism appears in our lives only when we desire it
We all must discover occultism in the midst of life,
