    Introduction

Psychics have incredible power. No, I’m referring to the ability to see and create destiny. That’s a power everyone has. A psychic simply uses intuition as an extra source of information in addition to the usual five senses. And no, I’m not talking about the power to know everything, because no one has that power. What I am talking about is the power to influence people’s behaviour in a deep and meaningful way. Psychics are the spiritual leaders of a generation and the culture is comprised of people who value intuition. Whether a psychic accepts this mantle of responsibility consciously or not, it is given and sometimes recklessly abused. Even psychics who choose not to read for others help form the public opinion of their kind.

As a society, we all participate in constructing the power of a psychic over his or her client. And there are those who hate the fact that such power is freely given. Fradulent psychics appear in nearly every culture worldwide. But then why is psychic practice one of the oldest and most enduring of professions? Because there is a human need for it.

People joke about untrustworthy psychics in the same way they joke about crooked lawyers. The difference is that lawyers have accountability. If they act poorly, their license to practice law can be taken away. People also lump psychics in with other people who prey on the gullible, such as car salesmen and mechanics. But even these professions have training, constant input from coworkers and the pressure of a boss who encourages good customer service. Such parallels in the psychic industry are rare and may seem virtually impossible for psychics who read only for personal reasons. Psychics can be likened more to informal teachers or counselors. No matter how well qualified they may be, once in private space with those they serve, anything can happen with little to no recourse.

The motivation for psychic responsibility must come from two sources: within each individual psychic and the world around us. Psychics, whether they read only for themselves for fun or for the masses for money, must rise up to both create and accept accountability. Psychic responsibility is not about giving up all of the power or pretending it doesn’t exist. Psychic responsibility is the act of empowering psychics and clients they serve, as well as the community in which psychics practice with an
