In this, the 3rd of The Preston Andrews Mysteries, Press thinks everything in his little world is exactly what it should be. He and Rachel are a couple--their future is looking bright. Then Press gets the phone call no man wants to get. Rachel is missing! In Seattle, a madman has been killing women for approximately a year. SPD's Chief Maddox is desperate to keep his city safe, so he calls in the FBI. That, of course, means Probst--the Bureau's Director and Press's worst nightmare--is involved. Press's whole world is upside down. The Virginia team (Press, Trace, Palmer) is joined and supported by Press's dad, U.S. Senator William Andrews. They head to Seattle to go hunting--for Rachel and for a serial killer.

A young hospital administrator is found dead only three months after the suicide of his predecessor. Press and the Virginia team come together with Detective Ross Graham of the Norfolk PD to resolve an issue of murder. Then Press's favorite coroner comes unglued when a small child dies unnecessarily. How these and more all come together is a very pressing issue of murder!

Press has now thoroughly offended everyone around him. His woman is gone, his heart is broken, and he's just simply in a pissy mood! Lieutenant Wallace is watching Press implode and take his entire Virginia Beach PD Homicide Squad down with him. He's had enough, and he puts Press on a paid leave until he gets his act together and gets the "back to work" approval from the department shrink! The next thing you know, Press and Jones are packed and on their way to Maine. God help any perp that gets in his way!

It is spring of 2012. A brilliant, young law student is found dead in Virginia Beach and Press is not happy. Murder in his town always makes him unhappy. He'd much rather he was put out of business. This case becomes very convoluted. One murder after another has led to today. But, there is great danger in this for Press and the other cops involved. This isn't just any young man. No, his father is the lawyer for no less than four mob families. Unusual, to say the least! Dangerous, without a doubt!

Trace is in a real pickle this time! Press has to work this one without his partner. There's been a murder entirely too close for comfort, and the whole Virginia team has to come together to prove Trace's innocence. Trace is "banished" to the Andrews mansion, where he is becoming Jones's new best friend. Poor Trace! As for the case, let's just say that unrequited love can be a real killer!

With just weeks before the biggest event of his life, everything goes wrong. In the midst of their celebration comes a terrible death, and that's just the beginning. Preston takes a life--now we have to figure out why. Press has faced tragedy before. He nearly lost his life on a flawed plan of FBI Director Probst's a few years ago; he nearly lost Rachel; Trace was in jeopardy, but this time he could lose everything. The Virginia Team is contacted by a young woman with whom Press has had dealings in the past. Little does Press know that he is about to have to work toe-to-toe with his old nemesis, FBI Director Malcolm Probst. Rachel is forced to deal with a wound from her past that she fooled herself into thinking had healed. With all their lives in danger and two possible sources of the threat, can Press and Probst work together as a team? Or will DC fall under a vicious and deadly attack?

Murder investigation via the dog's perspective, this humorous mystery has Jones providing background information on the goings on in the Andrews household. His views on work, people and situations are bound to give the reader a giggle as Press and the rest of the Virginia team try to find the killer of a young woman who didn't exist just a very few years before she's found on Press's beach--dead!

A serial killer hits Virginia Beach on day 1 of spring break. Press's first thought is that an old nemesis from many years ago has come back to haunt him. The victims are, as before, the daughters of well-known families--except one. Press is thrown by the anomaly. Why the daughter of an unemployed man of modest means? His only goal is to stop the killing before break ends and he loses more girls and perhaps the killer. He calls in the Virginia team and together they try to put the puzzle together.
