About this ebook

Alexis McQuillan went looking for spirits.

She found a demon.

Her life will never be the same.

Alexis is a psychic who never believed in demons until she came face to face with pure evil. This is her true story of spiritual warfare with a terrifying entity so powerful it turned her life upside down and put her in mortal danger.

The nightmare begins shortly after Alexis and her husband relocate to a small lakeside community. After hearing rumors about the nearby Matthews residence, Alexis investigates the nineteenth-century house and its spirit inhabitants. She soon finds herself caught in a demon's snare of violent fury—isolating her from her family, attacking her in the one place she thinks she is safe, and staining her very soul.

Enjoyed this book and read it all in one sitting. The first part of the book was the best for me, it showed her researching the house in question and the family. I really like first person ghost stories so this was a good read for me. It reminded me frequently of Dead Files the TV Series as both women involved are physical mediums and can see and talk/interact with ghosts. This however took a turn when she is in the basement and meets up and later challenges a demon. Was interesting in that she took what she needed from various religions and used them to her need.

this is a great book, however i felt like the author spent too much time (around 100 of the 183 pages) talking about how she got to the area in question and not as much time telling about her dealing with a demonic presence during an investigation at a local house in town. also, she has one part in the front where she talks about amon warning her on top of some gravestones near the investigation site but she never brings this up in the book... still a decent book that will keep your attention throughout.

One does not know where to stand with McQuillan. In one breath, she states how she wishes she had never encountered the demon she did; in the next, she is grateful for the experience for making her stronger. Constant references to the past border on annoying. The tale could be borderline terrifying if it weren't presented in the manner it is--her references to the past and the fantastical tales of light triumphing over dark, as well as the constant shift in perspective (she conquers the evil, she fears she'll never escape it) make it hard to believe, hard to get into, and hard to enjoy.
