About this ebook

A young boy traces his ancestry from his great-great-grandparents to his own family in the present day. But as in every family, there is more than one side to the story! From front to back, follow along as the boy links the relatives on his dad's side. Then, from back to front, begin again as the boy links the relatives on his mom's side. A mini-lesson in genealogy, this unique flipped story explores how generations can all be connected, playfully reflected through illustrations of recurring, inherited physical traits among family members.

This was an interesting book. It starts from both covers. A young boy is exploring his family tree. It starts with Great-Great-Granparents on his father's side and works it way down and does the same with his mother's side starting from the back. The illustrations are a hoot and kids would love them. A bonus is the diversity in this family. It is a great way to teach children about ancestry and what a family tree is. Not really a story, but that is not the point of the book. A great book to use in a classroom when dealing with family trees and heritage.

Thanks to the publishers (Kids Can Press) and NetGalley, for letting me read a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This nicely illustrated volume provides good explanations of family relationships, such as aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, etc. in a format that younger children will enjoy. The family depicted is a mutli-ethnic family. It is a book which may create interest in family history. Parents may wish to pre-screen the book for their children if they have objections to some of the more complicated modern-day relationships. This review is based on an advance review copy provided by the publisher through NetGalley for review purposes.

This book is very clever. It’s simple. It's about your family and how you wouldn’t be you without your parents, and your parents, wouldn't be them without your grandparents, etc. The book is 2 sided, mom’s side and dad’s side, and while the wording has almost no changes, the illustrations really show each side of the family and the difference of where they came from.
