About this ebook

Herbs, herbs, herbs...Olde Thyme Gardens revolved around herbs – growing them, cooking with them and crafting with them. In Herb Store Favorites, we bring you the favorites that we collected. Cheese Dilly Bread, Cranberry Orange Honey Nut Muffins, Green Rice, Lavender Shortbread, Rosemary Cookies and Lemon Verbena Buttermilk Pound Cake – along with a host of others.

The years the store was open as a brick and mortar, along with three annual Herb Fest’s in California gave us a nice collection of herbal recipes. Some we used in the store at various Open Houses and events. We got others from some of the food contests held in the store, and at the herb festivals.

Join us at the herb store, I think you’ll find something here that you’ll love!

    Introduction

One of my favorite memories of Olde Thyme Gardens was the delicious herbal food that was part of our celebrations, birthday parties, and festivals. Food contests held in the store, bread contests and soup contests were a source of fun, camaraderie and good times. Customers and other local businesses were the judges for the contests and the entire day was filled with delicious tastes and aromas.

A lot of people asked for the recipes of the delicious dishes served at the festivities and contests. We shared many of the enclosed recipes individually, while the store was still open. Now that Olde Thyme Gardens is merely a memory, we bring back the cookbook with some of the favorite recipes to a new digital edition.

I hope you enjoy the recipes included in this booklet as much as I have! May the dishes you prepare bring you, your family and friends many happy memories.

    Tips for Cooking with Herbs

A lot of people that that cooking with herbs is difficult or that it’s a different, more mystical cooking experience. Actually, if you’re followed any recipes, you’ve probably cooked with herbs or spices. There’s nothing really different about cooking with herbs. When cooking with herbs, you can use either dried or fresh herbs. Most cooks have dried herbs and spices to use while cooking. If you have fresh herbs growing that you can use in your cooking….even better!
