Spittin' Lyrics N Waxin' Poetic - Kevin Alberto Sabio

    DEDICATION

Dedicated to all of those that have something to say, and cannot keep it contained inside.  To all of those that have ever spit a verse, waxed poetic, or just shouted at the top of their lungs.  Words can be very powerful, and very influential.  May you hear what I have to say, and appreciate what I'm saying.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I am not a poet.  I have been known to spit some verses over the years, and wax poetic to certain women that I've been interested in dating.  But, I repeat...I am not a poet.  A poet (to me) is someone who lives poetry, who feels the need to spit poetry, to be able to truly express themselves poetically.  I do like poetry, but it is not my passion.

Having said that...I have had the honor of meeting many poets in my travels.  They have been the inspiration for my interest in writing (and sometimes, performing) poetry.  I have a number of works that I have kept in the archives, never having shown, nor performed these pieces before.  It is because I've had the honor of crossing paths with these people that this project is even possible.  Without meeting them, this literary project wouldn't even be considered.  These pieces would still be collecting dust in one of my folders, both physical and digital, never to see the light of day.  So, it is because of these people, these influencers, these grand wordsmiths, those emcees & dope spitters...that this project is now a reality.

Shout out to my peoples Christopher Chilo Cajigas, Mercy Tullis-Bukhari, David El David Rodriguez, Katalina Rodriguez, Maria Aponte, Carmen Bardeguez-Brown, Custodio Gomes, Carlos Semanxant, Manuel Melendez, Peggy Robles-Alvarado, Stan Substantial Robinson, Afi Makalani, Be One, Al Walker, Jamil Skript Jasey, Serena Wills, Sabrina Gilbert, Vladimir Vitamin V Rodriguez, Not4Prophet, Oveous Maximus, Mariposa Fernandez, Caridad La Bruja De La Luz, and so many others that I can't name.

    PART I:

    HEART OF A

    SOULJAHR

    INTERNAL CONFLICT

Why should I care about the problems that exist...?

Why, oh why will my combative spirit not leave me be, and let my soul exist in complacent peace...?

Must I be that man...that hard brother, that fights and strives for change, while others sit idly by...?

Why won't my inner spirit allow me to give up...?

Shouldn't I be able to become apathetic...?

Why won't my spirit let my disenfranchisement take over, and cease with this fight?

    Don't I deserve some peace...?

Dual forces conflicting for control over my body and mind,

Striving for control over that ultimate, most coveted prize...my soul...

How come I care, when others don't?

Why should I continue to fight, when others won't?

Do others not understand what's at stake...?

Or...am I the only lost one...?

Am I the one that doesn't belong...?

Or...has my time, and way of thinking, passed?

    Heaven help us all...

    DEAF, DUMB, AND BLIND

A cancerous lesion that infests the soul,

Tearing you apart from top to bottom...

That cancer of ignorance that takes over your mind and body,

Nonthinking, unfeeling, having no conscience at all...

No peripheral vision to see beyond that which is right in front of you,

Never going beyond that which you were told by others,

    Never thinking for one's self...
