About this ebook

It has been a year since the horrific murders at Jacob’s Bible Camp, but even though the killer was supposedly slain, the church that owns the property has decided to sell. To that end, the pastor agrees to meet a real estate agent and a potential buyer at the site of the camp itself.

Upon arriving, the agent and the buyer and others with them spot the pastor’s car, but there are no signs of the man himself. Looking around the camp, they eventually split up, and then they go missing, one by one, just like a year earlier.

Does this mean serial killer Tank Tucker is alive? That he survived and has been hiding this whole time, just waiting for this next flock of victims?

It was hard to believe such a beautiful place could have been the site of so much horrific tragedy. A dozen or so murdered, butchered, the local sheriff killed in an explosion. The scenery denied such an outcome, such an outlook.

These were the things Doug Cotton told himself as he slowly drove along the gravel road. Glancing from time to time out his car’s windows, he found the greenery and life of the surrounding forest to be nothing less than another witness to the greatness of God. It was too bad recent local history had not always followed that path.

As a heavy chain appeared hanging across the road, he slowed his Taurus and pulled to one side, parking in the grass.

Exiting the vehicle, he made his way up to the chain, unhooking the links from a concrete pipe sticking up on one side of the road. Then he pulled that end of the chain and tossed it into a pile next to another concrete pipe on the other side of the road.

Turning around to face his car again, he breathed in the day’s warmth, its woodsy smells. Birds sang back in the depths of the trees and here and there small animals went about their business, scurrying from one spot to another, chewing on downed acorns, simply going about their lives.

Doug shook his head. So much life. So much joy. All shattered at one time.

Climbing back into the car, he started it up and continued his slow cruise along the gravel.

Soon he came to the road’s end, a circular drive of more of the small, broken rocks. Slightly to his right was a low building made of concrete blocks, other buildings just like it running in a row behind and into the forest. To his left was a log cabin with a flat roof. Further to the left was a narrow dirt path leading off into the woods. Straight ahead was another dirt path that shot back and down through the forest, the sun glinting beyond off the waters of what he knew would be a lake.

Doug parked in the middle of the gravel lot and climbed out, looking around while allowing the sun to warm
