Understanding Christianity

About this ebook
The story of Christianity has been told and retold throughout the millennium among a cacophony of parochial instructions that often contradict scriptures more than they enlighten.
This book is not a religious piece of work, neither is it ecclesiastical. Rather, it is a piece of investigative work for those who are mired with contradictions about Christianity, and to allow them to understand it better, as a movement concept.

Foreword
In my Preface to SP’s last book, I said this: "We always long to give everything we have for that wonderful pearl of great price but we cannot part with everything, because we are not really sure about the value of that pearl.
Our hearts are also not absolutely sure about where we stand with regard to the Bible in relation to the teaching on denominational dogma and doctrines that we have been brought up with.
We want to have His peace, the peace that the world cannot give and only He can give to our troubled souls, but our hearts are still not at peace."
In this new Foreword, I must say, that in this systematically re-arranged volume of work by SP, who is an ordinary man, which is meant for ordinary people, I am sure that God has worked on him in a profound way.
I know that there are those who are well read, and who will no doubt ask more questions, but they can only clarify some of the issues that may be troubling most of us or them. I have myself found all the various sections to be extremely useful reading, which apart from being more than redemptive to my Spirit, has also strengthened my own faith and made me a better-informed Christian.
I am confident that the kingdom of God can only be found through our personal spiritual experiences and not through the myriad of varying denominational dogmas and doctrines which more than often serve to confuse rather than to lead us to know the history of our Christian beliefs from its genesis to its revelation of God’s word to each and every one of us.
May the good Lord bless and keep all who have the opportunity to read this volume of work produced by a man not more religious or holy than the majority of us ordinary people.

Introduction
It has been some six years since I wrote my first compilation of Christian beliefs in the book entitled: Know The Truth And The Truth Will Set You Free–A Brief understanding of Christianity From A Non-Doctrinal Perspective
. What compelled me to write that book was the fact that I found some Christians to be wanting in their understanding of their faith. Through this sequel, I hope that the additional material presented–both historical and biblical–may have the effect of further strengthening their faith in Christ, albeit without the denominational biases and differences in interpretations of dogmas.
Telling it like it is from the biblical text is the best way to strengthen our faith since much of what we believe in our Christian faith can be verified from the Bible. This was in fact the approach recommended by Martin Luther in 1517 for understanding the received Scriptures. This set the tone for the Reformation, a historical course that changed the whole landscape of Christianity for future believers. This direct bible-based approach is derived from his concept of Sola Scriptura. Sola Scriptura
, the Latin words for Scripture alone
are watchwords of the Protestant Reformation that has been established in Protestant churches since Luther first initiated his protest in 1517. To Luther, faith does not require information, knowledge, and certainty, but requires charity, a free surrender,
