About this ebook

Herein are gauged connections to the mundane and the magical. Through words we evoke sense expressions, so to stand struck at the bounties of knowable beauty. Here we give from the deep some sense of what's precious to one or many, sowing poignancy and poise in fertile minds. There will be infinity, there too shall be the tragically finite. But, by the conclusion of these poems, we'll draw closer to both and realize what elegance may be traced along the contours of reality.

    he died so many deaths

    his heart nearly forgot

    how to beat,

    and, retreating

    to the haunted forest,

he'd planned the last farewell to his kingdom.

    the white horse,

    nature's herald,

    found his crumbling remains,

lifeless but for the fact of life,

    and there,

    split its spirit

to save the child of furious love.

    and he woke

    lost but determined

    to ride again.

    now he sees life

    in its multitude and simultaneity.

    now he is more complete

knowing that each breath is a beginning and an end.

now the horse and man are one.

    they ride through many kingdoms

    followed by blooming flowers

and children who teach us how to laugh.

    with his bare hands

and tossed it on the ground.

he gave thanks to the gods

    and the fish

    and the one god

and the goddess that gave birth to him,

    then he ate.

    it was his first fish

    in many moons.

    he kept the bones

    in his pocket

    to run his fingers across.

    the source

she dug deeper than ever before

to find truth for us all,

    searching a molten core

    where fluid and solid

    coexist.

    so deep that it hurt,

    but she'd trained herself

to love this sort of pain.

    so raw

    that advice from strangers

    could change her forever.

    and now,

    from her lips—

    more precious than gold—

    the spark of being.

    here, floating on his feet,

he lingers in contentment for the day:

    time spent laughing

    in a constructive fashion,

    with himself and others,

    for the sake of happiness,
