1) A different kettle of fish.
A horse of a different color.
São outros quinhentos.
Exemplo: If you don't feel like coming to the party because you just broke up with him, it's a different kettle of fish.
For a native Italian speaker, it is easy to learn Spanish. Learning German is a horse of a different color.
2) It's all Greek to me.
Isso para mim é grego.
Exemplo: I can't understand medieval poetry. It's all Greek to me. I give up.
3) To have a skeleton in the closet / in the cupboard.
Ter um esqueleto no armário significa que uma pessoa possui para si própria um ou mais segredos comprometedores.
Exemplo: He's been acting weird recently. He must have a skeleton in the closet.
Tell me the truth: are you hiding something from me? Do you have some skeletons in the closet?
4) Achilles' heel.
The chink in one's armor.
O calcanhar de Aquiles.
Exemplo: She has a lot of courage, but arachnophobia is her Achilles' heel.
My Achilles' heel is my dog. I love him like a son. I would do anything for him.
5) To have ants in one's pants.
Estar com o bicho carpinteiro.
Exemplo: Yesterday afternoon at the party, there was a child with ants in his pants.
Will you stop moving, please? You're a hurricane today! What's wrong with you? Do you have ants in your pants?
6) To beat about the bush.
Estar com rodeios, não ir directo ao assunto.
Exemplo: Please do not beat about the bush and tell me the truth right now!
