Chapter 1

Kordell sighed as he looked down at his phone. It was Renee calling for the fifth time. He’d been sending her straight to voicemail because he was meeting with a client. However, now she was sending him back to back text messages. Once he was finally free he cracked open a bottle of Evian water, loosened his tie, and placed his feet up on his desk. It had been an exhausting week. And sleep was something he couldn’t seem to acquire the past few nights. When he didn’t answer Renee called back less than a minute later.

What’s up Renee?

It’s about time you picked up? Have you been getting my messages?

I just saw them. I’ve been in a meeting with a client. What’s going on?

I need to be asking you that question. Kordell, where the hell is my sister?

You haven’t talked to her? he asked, rubbing the upper corners of his eye sockets by his nose.

I mean yeah, a few weeks ago. I’ve been trying to catch her this week and she’s not picking up. I’ve left her several messages. This isn’t like her. Is she ok? Can you call her and tell her to call me back? Renee replied with concern in her voice.

I can barely get her myself. I was hoping she would be home by now.

It was going on four months since Christine had left for Brazil to have several cosmetic procedures. And although she’d informed Kordell that she would be home in six weeks. That time frame had long passed.

Home? Where is she?

She’s still in Brazil. She said the surgery went well but she still hasn’t found her way back home, Kordell responded with frustration added to his tone.

What the hell do you mean still in Brazil? Surgery? How long has she been gone? Renee asked frantically.

Wait? So she didn’t tell you? Kordell asked.

Hell no, she didn’t tell me!

At that moment Kordell realized that Christine didn’t want Rene to know what was going on with her. Usually they would share everything. He realized that she may have wanted to keep her plastic surgery a secret. Especially the way Renee ran her mouth. He figured that he would let Christine go over the details herself.

Uhmm yeah, she just had a minor procedure done. I’m sorry Renee, but I have to get back to work. When I speak with her again I’ll be sure to tell her to call you.

Kordell’s attempt at getting Renee off the phone failed miserably.

You ain’t THAT busy to where you can’t tell me what’s going on with my sister. What kind of procedure did she have? Is she sick? Oh my God Kordell! I can’t believe y’all would keep something like this from me! She yelled.

It was obvious she wasn’t going away without an explanation. He could have hung up on her but Renee had a habit of sticking her nose where it didn’t belong. And she could be relentless once she got wound up.

Kordell sighed.

If she didn’t say anything to you I’m guessing she wanted wait till she was back home. But yes she’s ok. She had a few cosmetic procedures done and she’s away recovering. She wanted to stay in town where she had the surgery just in case there were any complications, but everything turned out fine.

Oh really? Renee responded. The wheels in her head begun spinning. After she’d gotten all the information she wanted from Kordell she hung up and plotted her next move.

Uhmm hmm, her sidity ass didn’t tell me she was going to get carved up. She didn’t want me to know that. I thought she looked a little long in the tooth the last time I saw her. I think it’s time for me to pay my brother in law a little visit.

Chapter 2

Christine, this is absolutely ridiculous! Kordell yelled. How the hell are you going to leave home and just don’t return till you feel like it?

Christine adjusted the broad brim of her sun hat further down over her eyes, placed her drink order and leaned back onto the comfy lounge chair. Kordell’s rant didn’t faze her one bit.

The last I checked I didn’t have a curfew. As I told you before, I’m recovering and taking some me time. I’ll be home when I get there.

Her nonchalant tone only served to further piss Kordell off.

This is some bullshit and you know it! If you want out just say it! Is that it? Have you found someone else? Are you calling yourself leaving me?

Before Kordell knew it he had become short winded.

Calm down before you give yourself another heart attack Kordell. Trust me, if and when I want out you will know. Oh and by the way, I sent away your little detective that you had spying on me. That’s pretty pathetic even for you.

What the hell else was I supposed to do? You barely talk to me. And when you do, look at the tone you take. Since when do you speak to me in that manner? I shouldn’t have sent another man to do my work. Once I’m done tying things up here with this next deal. I’m coming to get you myself and bringing you home.

Christine laughed as she listened to Kordell’s pathetic threat.

So that’s it? You think this shit is a joke? Why don’t you just talk to me like an adult instead of playing games, he ranted. He was beyond pissed. Despite all the dirt he did, it was a huge blow to his ego to even entertain the thought of Christine giving him a taste of his own medicine. In true cheater fashion, it was safe to say that he wanted his cake and to eat it too.

Christine took a sip of her martini before giggling softly as Raoul nibbled at her neck. Stop it, she whispered.

Look, I have to go, she replied.

What? Who are you talking too? Who’s there with you?

Before he could get in another word Christine hung up and turned off her ringer.

Chapter 3

Cassidy took a sip of her Mai Tai then eased down into the steaming Jacuzzi. It had been an exhausting week and it felt divine to finally relax. Since moving into the mansion her life had changed for the better. Not only was she no longer dancing, Kordell promised that her salary wouldn’t decrease once Christine returned home. She’d been gone for almost four months and Cassidy had practically taken over her side of the bed.

Needless to say this pissed Apollo off to no end. Despite the fact that Cassidy really liked him, she also loved the luxurious lifestyle and shopping sprees that Kordell provided. The sex with Apollo was amazing but Kordell showed her a different way of life and she loved every minute of it.

She was no longer the maid. She was now Kordell’s personal assistant. Along with that position came a new BMW, Chanel suits and pamper sessions at the salon.

After she emerged from the Jacuzzi she walked over to the pool and dove in. The water felt cool and refreshing against her skin. Once she swam to the edge and popped her head out of the water she was met by Apollo. They had to keep their conversations brief seeing as there were cameras outside.

So you just don’t have time for me at all anymore. I thought we were in this thing together, he announced smugly.

Cassidy reached for her towel to pat her eyes before responding. They had already had this conversation several times in the last few weeks and quite frankly she was over it.

We are in it together, why do we have to keep talking about the same thing over and over? she asked as she hopped up on the edge of the pool and sat.

By the way you sleeping in his bed every night, I can’t tell, Apollo snapped.

No this nigga don’t have an attitude, Cassidy thought.

I’m just fulfilling the job requirements. Remember YOU wanted me to do this, she reminded him.

Yeah, I but that was before I knew you were going to go over and above the call of duty. For that nigga to have a limp dick it seems like he’s getting more ass than me these days. I seen a time when you couldn’t wait till he left the house so we could be together. Now, I can barely get you to answer a text.

That statement was the farthest thing from the truth. He was getting plenty of
