About this ebook

FOXE DEN follows high school English teacher Skyler Foxe and his friends throughout the holidays, from Thanksgiving to New Year’s. Along the way, Skyler gets to inflict his mother on his boyfriend Keith, meets Keith’s parents, and just generally tries to navigate the treacherous waters of a brand new relationship. Unlike the novels, this novella hasn’t any mystery to solve. It’s the sort of stuff that happens between characters once the book cover is closed; a gift of “DVD extras.” This novella comes right afterOUT-FOXED and before FOXE FIRE. Haley Walsh

Haley Walsh tried acting, but decided the actor's life was not for her. Instead, she became a successful graphic designer in Los Angeles, her hometown. After fifteen years of burning money in the '80s and early '90s, she retired from the graphics industry and turned her interests toward writing novels. She became a freelance newspaper reporter, wrote articles for quirky magazines, published award-winning short stories, and writes an acclaimed series of medieval mysteries (www.JeriWesterson.com). FOXE TAIL is her first m/m mystery, followed by FOXE HUNT and OUT-FOXED. Foxe Den - Haley Walsh

    INTRODUCTION

This novella is a companion piece to the Skyler Foxe Mystery novel OUT-FOXED. The events in these stories continue where OUT-FOXED left off. In other words, it’s best to read OUT-FOXED first before getting into this novella because there are major spoilers for the first three books. In fact, it will all make more sense and be far more enjoyable if you read the Skyler Foxe novels in order, beginning with FOXE TAIL, then FOXE HUNT, OUT-FOXED, and finally this one.

I had so much I wanted to include in OUT-FOXED, but sometimes you just have to end the book at its natural conclusion. These are little vignettes, fluff pieces without a mystery to solve. It’s the sort of stuff that happens between characters once the book cover is closed. I hope you will take them in the spirit in which they are given, as a gift of DVD extras to my readers. Just sit back and enjoy a little fluff for the holidays. And be sure to look for the next Skyler Foxe novel in the series where we get back to the business of mysteries.

    THANKSGIVING

WHEN SKYLER AWOKE THE NEXT morning his eyes immediately snapped open, remembering what Keith had said the night before. Keith’s arms were still wrapped around him, his shaggy head still lying heavily on Skyler’s chest.

Last night, after they had made love, Keith had sleepily said, Love you to Skyler before he succumbed to slumber. And it had taken a long time for Skyler to fall asleep after that. Had he really said he loved Skyler? Did he mean it?

Panic welled in his chest. No, he chided himself. Maybe he hadn’t meant it that way. Maybe he had meant it in a bro sort of way. Love ya, man or love this. Or…

Skyler? Why are you so tense?

He looked down and Keith was looking up at him with those lovely blue eyes. I’m not tense, he lied.

Keith pushed himself up, hands positioned on either side of Skyler’s hips. Yes, you are. I can feel it. Is it your arm? Is it hurting you?

Skyler immediately put a hand on his sling, adjusting the injured shoulder. No. It’s okay.

Good. Keith gave him a lazy smile. He looked down at Skyler’s nude body on display beneath him. Then just lie back. I’ll take care of things.

Oh? He watched as Keith slithered down his torso, kissing the blond treasure trail down to his pubic hair, where Keith nuzzled it with his nose. Maybe he had been tense but his dick certainly took an interest and jerked awake.

Keith was still smiling, even as his nose teased the sensitive hair curling at the base of Skyler’s cock. Pubic hair should never be this color.

    What’s wrong with the color?

    "Nothing. It’s just so…blond."

What are you implying? He threaded the fingers of his good hand through the platinum locks draping over his forehead. "It just proves I’m a natural blond."

Mmm. It’s beautiful. Just like your dick. He gave Skyler’s interested cock a good hard lick, which stiffened it all the more.

His warm, wet tongue made a leisure perusal of it and he kept making low sounds of appreciation deep in his throat. Finally, he took the base of Skyler’s cock in a firm grip and aimed it toward his mouth. But instead of sucking it, he teased it, just running the crown slowly over his moistened, parted lips.

Skyler watched, rapt. Keith’s hair fell over his forehead in sexy disarray and his heavy brows drew down in concentration.

Kissing the head of Skyler’s prick, Keith then licked it, letting the flat of his tongue perform long licks from root to tip before his lips teased around the ridge of the crown.

The sensation shot down Skyler’s thighs and up his crack. His hole pulsed with anticipation. He wanted Keith’s fingers there, but he was too absorbed in sudden overstimulation to make his mouth ask for it. Skyler arched his back, hips propelling off the bed. He tossed his head back and forth, eyes pressed closed. Shit, Keith...come on.

The man slurped all over his cock and finally took it into his mouth, laving the underside with his tongue and finally closed his lips over it, sucking.

Skyler pushed it deeper into Keith’s mouth and sighed at the hot moist sensation, when all at once his cock slipped from that warm cavern where he wanted it most and the cold air hit his wet flesh. He snapped his eyes open and saw Keith getting up onto his knees, straddling Skyler’s thighs. His large hand wrapped around his own reddened dick and he began stroking before he bent down over Skyler’s groin again.

That hot mouth closed over Skyler’s cock and sucked while twirling his tongue over the shaft. Skyler gasped from the trill roiling in his belly. It was the way Keith was moving his head, stretching his jaw, eyes closed in rapturous concentration.

Skyler clutched the sheets, groaning. This was so wonderful, so exquisite. So much better because it was Keith doing it.

The thought trickled cold water on the proceedings until Keith made a long sucking pull on him, and he could hear the wet filthy sounds of Keith’s sliding grip on his own dick. He forgot any other misgivings, lost in what the man was doing to him. He didn’t realize that he’d grasped Keith’s head and rocked his hips into his face. Keith’s eyes were closed. Skyler tried not to force his cock down Keith’s throat but he could barely hold himself back when he felt the coiling begin in his balls.

    Keith, I’m close. So close.

The man doubled his efforts, sucking hard now as he bobbed his head faster, his hand moving swiftly on his own cock. Skyler wished he could see it, wished he could watch, but from his angle, all he saw was that arm moving relentlessly.

And then Keith looked up, eyes moist, mouth full of dick, and Skyler didn’t have time to say or think anything. His balls clenched, he spread his legs wider, and shot his load into Keith’s slurping mouth. He stared, watching Keith’s lips tighten over his cock, his cheeks hollow from sucking. He looked as if he was enjoying every minute of it.

Skyler kept spurting, having no idea where it was all coming from. With just a ghosting of feeling, making him jut his hips, he was done at last. Keith groaned. Skyler felt some of the man’s release spatter the underside of his thighs. It was messy, and filthy, and utterly amazing.

Keith slid off of him and fell to the side. They both fell silent and spent under the afterglow, breathing heavily. Keith was wiping his mouth. The smell of spunk and sweat filled the air and Skyler breathed it in deeply.

Keith finally shifted up the bed and took him in his arms. He leaned in and kissed Skyler with a peck of soft lips. You are really something else, you know that?

    Skyler smiled. Yeah, I know.

With a wide grin, Keith shook his head. I must be nuts. He leaned in and kissed Skyler again, trailing his kisses to the edge of Skyler’s mouth and rubbing his stubble against Skyler’s.

How about we go out for breakfast this morning, said Keith between nuzzles. I’ve worked up an appetite.

Didn’t you already get your protein this morning?

That’s not quite enough for a growing boy like me. Now get up, you lazy ass. He slapped the side of Skyler’s butt and rose from the bed.

    I’m not lazy. I’m injured.

Keith stretched, and though sexually spent, Skyler’s gaze couldn’t help but rake over him appreciatively. Please. How long are you going to wring that wet handkerchief?

Skyler made an indignant sound and sat up. Hey! You think I’m milking this? I was shot!

The flash of emotion in Keith’s eyes pulled him up short. But it was gone just as swiftly and Keith plastered on a smile. Great detectives always get shot, don’t they? And live to detect another day. Though, I think we’ve both had enough of your playing Sherlock. He turned toward the bathroom and switched on the light.

Skyler scrambled out of bed after him. Didn’t I promise not to do that anymore?

Keith finished at the toilet and put the lid down as he flushed. I’ve heard that before. He washed his hands and reached for his toothbrush, fetching the toothpaste from the medicine cabinet. He eyed Skyler through their reflections in the mirror with a glint in his gaze.

Skyler snatched his toothbrush from the holder and held it out for Keith to squeeze a ribbon of toothpaste on it. They both scrubbed their teeth. I’m a teacher, mumbled Skyler around his toothbrush. I’m not a sleuth.

So I’ve been trying to tell you, said Keith and then spit into the sink.

They rinsed and replaced their toothbrushes in tandem.

And I said I was done with it.

Keith chuckled. I’m not arguing with you, believe me.

They continued to banter as they took turns showering and dressing. Skyler kept slapping Keith’s hands away as he tried to help him with his bum arm.

Bundled in their jackets, they made their way downstairs to Keith’s truck when Skyler suggested they walk a couple of blocks to a little Mexican place on the corner, a small vintage diner with the only seating at the counter stools. It was Skyler’s favorite breakfast spot.

When they arrived, they were the only customers, save for a Hispanic man at the last red vinyl-covered stool at the end of the counter. They took middle seats. Skyler picked up the menu and pointed out his favorites, recommending the café de olla and the huevos rancheros. Keith agreed easily and spent the next few minutes smiling at Skyler while Skyler fiddled with his silverware, waiting for his coffee, something, anything to pass the time. He felt suddenly awkward under Keith’s scrutiny and that was ridiculous. Usually, he’d never felt more comfortable with the man. But as Skyler snatched sly looks at him—his black hair, square jaw with its sprinkling of a day-old beard, his ice blue eyes, and broad shoulders—Skyler began to wonder if Keith remembered what he’d said the night before. Keith hadn’t brought it up. Should Skyler?

No. That was a conversation that Skyler was just not ready for. Love? He liked the guy and all, enjoyed their time together, adored their sex lives. And hell, the man had killed for him! But Skyler didn’t feel ready for the commitment that being in love entailed. After all, they weren’t even living together…and that was another topic he certainly didn’t want to broach.

He sighed as the man behind the counter slid a cup of dark Mexican coffee toward him, and the rich, spicy aroma filled his nostrils. His fingers warmed on the ceramic mug. Maybe he had built walls around himself over the years; walls preventing Skyler from committing to a relationship. But he was still young. Why did he have to settle down so soon? Wasn’t there plenty of time for that?

Of course, look at Keith. He was thirty-five years old, a whole decade older than Skyler. And Keith hadn’t settled down yet. Except that it looked like he’d settled for Skyler.

On the other hand, what did he really know of Keith’s past?

So I was wondering, Skyler heard himself say.

Keith took a sip of his coffee, eyebrows raised
