Love Knows No Boundaries! - Roger Henri Trepanier

    / Preface

This is another heartwarming love story which is sure to touch readers at many emotional levels. It is the fifth book in The Christian Fiction Library series. While the story is fictionalized, the subject matter itself is not, since love is what is most sought after by human beings, whether we realize it or not. What we will see in this book is that love cannot be hemmed in; in that it has no boundaries. A dictionary definition of the word boundary is ‘anything which limits, or marks a limit; a dividing line.’ This book then is about the type of love that we all wish for as human beings, since God created us all with the same needs and yearnings. Unfortunately, it is a love which so few ever find due to settling for its counterfeit.

And as can be expected in a work of fiction, the characters and events portrayed in this book are fictitious. Any similarities to literal persons, living or dead, are purely coincidental and were not the intent of the author.

Trusting all will enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing it. There were some days when I did not want to stop writing!

Both love and lust are four letter words. But what a world of difference! Happy is the man or woman who has discovered and experienced the difference!

    CHAPTER ONE

    / Typical of so many!

Kate was typical of so many people. Since the time she started experiencing changes in her body, coupled with a desire to be noticed by members of the opposite sex, she had not only been looking for Mr Right, but also for the true love that she instinctively knew she needed to build a life upon. She did not need to read in a magazine or online somewhere that at a certain age certain forces start to work in our lives, in both women and men, propelling us toward trying to find true love, since this was something that God instilled in all of us at creation. He knew what would make for a lasting relationship, as a foundation on which to build a family together, enabling us to weather the storms of life which are sure to come.

But the problem that Kate had, which is common to all of us, is that we do not know what true love looks like. If we are not Christians, through having a personal relationship with God at salvation, then we likely know only the love of parents for their children, and in many cases most people do not even have this. Kate was more fortunate than most, in that she had both. She had experienced the unconditional love of her parents, who were Christians, and she had experienced the unconditional love of God at fourteen, when she personally came to believe in God’s precious Son, Jesus Christ. So her search for true love should have been greatly facilitated.

But unfortunately, as she was to find out, to her chagrin, is that there was something else out there passing as a counterfeit for love. She already knew that there is devil opposed to all that is good and of God; but what she was not fully aware of, as is the case with all of us, is that the devil has sown lust as a counterfeit to try to snare people to settle for that instead of settling for true love. Hopefully one learns to tell true love apart from lust before tying the knot that binds for a lifetime; but unfortunately, that is not always the case.

What God also did, apart from showing us what true love is through a demonstration of His own unconditional love for the human race in the death of His own precious Son for us at the cross, was to make us human and not robots. What this means for one thing is that we have the power of choice. And so life here on earth can be looked at as a series of choices, some good and some bad. In other words, all choices have consequences. Same as all inventions have a potential for good or for evil.

In Kate’s case, when she was twenty, she met a man that she thought was her Mr Right. She had been dating since the age of sixteen. Being from a Christian home, she did have parents who wanted to raise their kids God’s way, meaning in accordance with God’s teachings. Although God never says, Thou shall not start dating until sixteen and after, yet He does place His Holy Spirit in our lives, when we first come to personally know Him, to guide us in all the truth of His word, and also in all those grey areas where there are no specific instructions.

In any case, by her twenty-first birthday, Kate was married to Tom. He was the last one in a long string of young males she had dated. Each time one relationship ended and a new one started, Kate was realizing that she was making better and better choices. In other words, each new man seemed like a stepping stone in finding Mr Right, or at least that was the intent of the process of being exposed to members of the opposite sex. It is supposed to be a time of winnowing, until we find that elusive true love. And so, when she met Tom and had feelings that made her want to spend the rest of her life with this man, she closed the door on looking further, no matter what anyone around her was saying. For instance, both her parents had insisted from the beginning of the relationship that Tom was not the right man for her. But Kate would not hear of it. Even her closest friend, Sue, kept telling her that he did not love her, but was just looking for sex. But Kate was adamant that Tom was the man of her dreams.

The sad reality here is that in God having given us all the power of choice also means that we are all saddled with the same propensity toward choosing to do our own will at all times, not realizing that too often our emotions can cloud are ability to think straight, so as to prevent us from making correct choices. And this is what happened to Kate. So by the time she was twenty-five, Kate has two kids, Billy and Joey, aged four and two. And by now, motherhood seems to have added years of maturity to Kate’s young life, so that she is coming to realize the error of her ways, meaning that she now wishes that she had not married Tom.

For one thing, she thought for sure that he was a Christian, but now finds out that he was not. Most nights he stops for a brew after work, or so he says, and has a few more once he gets home. Her pregnancies caused her to gain weight, which she has not yet shed. Whether it is losing her attractive shape that has led to less intimate relations with Tom or not, she does not know. Lately, she has even been suspecting Tom of seeing someone else. When she was doing the laundry the other day, one of his shirts smelled of a perfume which was not her own. And so when Tom did
