Principles of Ophthalmology focuses on the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the eyes. The book first offers information on the optical mechanism of the eyes, binocular vision, and examination of the eyes, including refractive errors, human binocular reflexes, and management of strabismus and heterophoria. The publication then examines the eyelids and lacrimal apparatus, exophthalmos and proptosis, and the conjunctiva. Topics include disorders of the lacrimal apparatus, abnormalities of the eyelids, lacrimal obstruction, orbital tumors, pseudotumor of the orbit, conjunctival involvement in skin diseases, and conjunctivitis. The text examines the cornea, sclera and episclera, lens, iris and ciliary body, and the vitreous body. Discussions focus on vitreous opacities, cataract, anterior uveitis, sensitivity of organisms to antibiotics administrable by subconjunctival injection, and inflammatory lesions of the cornea. The publication is a valuable source of data for ophthalmologists and readers interested in ophthalmology.
