    This was the first time we had actually met although we had been in touch by electronic mail.

    I turned and looked up at the Earth. The dome wasn’t completely clear, as I had thought it would be. It was tinted a bronze color, probably to filter out some of the sun’s more deadly rays. It was amazing, seeing the Earth hanging in the ink-black sky like a big blue-and-white ball.

    Good guess. I’m Tony Eland; it’s nice to meet you. You’re Erin Thorne, I believe? he said.

    I nodded and we walked side by side into Elliot Space Station’s town’s warehouse. I smelled the cold wet of the cement and the grease and oil from the equipment and forklifts. There was also a hint of a pine scent reminiscent of wooden shipping crates.

    There were a dozen self-contained domes on the moon. They were all pressurized and included artificial gravity—close to Earth normal—air and fresh water from the reclamation system augmenting the water
