1. Pleasure of a Stranger
The vibration could be felt from inside the building. It’s 1:00 p.m., Sharon thinks to herself as she runs to look out the window. There he was, a perfect stranger for whom she had no name and no information. His dark hair lay hidden underneath his helmet. Completely wrapped in leather he was a sight for sore eyes. She often wonders what was hidden underneath all that cowhide.
Sharon quickly makes her way over to her purse which is in a drawer and grabs $3.75. This is the perfect amount for an iced latte downstairs in the coffee shop. She keeps this amount tucked away everyday so she can catch a closer glimpse of this stranger. Her friend watches as she grabs the exact change and races to the elevator. Lucy calls out, Go get him, honey,
as Sharon passes by her desk.
One day I will,
Sharon replies with laughter. Standing in front of the elevator waiting for it to arrive is torturous every single day. Just as she is about to take the stairs, ding, the elevator arrives. She presses number one as she anxiously waits to see her tall, dark and mysterious stranger.
Ding,
the elevators sounds as she quickly rushes out to look for him. There he is, she thinks to herself as she stands in line to get her iced latte. Her heart racing, she is called to the front of the line to take her order. She glances over her shoulder to make sure he is still sitting in the corner. Thank you,
she says as she grabs her drink.
Frantically, she searches for a place to sit. She needs to find a seat where she can examine him a little closer. Aha, here we go,
she says to herself as she plops down in a chair.
He is reading a newspaper and, from what she can tell, he does not have on a wedding ring. Yes,
she quietly says as she watches his facial expressions while he reads. She takes a moment and engages in a day dream about him. Hmm, I wonder what his hands feel like and how big his arms are underneath that leather coat. She glances down at his feet and he’s wearing huge biker boots with thick soles. Underneath the leather pants you can faintly see a chain hanging from his boots. As she finds herself in lust over him, she forgets that she is staring. He catches a glimpse of her looking directly at him. He smiles and continues to read the paper. Completely embarrassed, Sharon quickly looks away.
Oh my god,
she says to herself as she looks down toward the floor. Feeling humiliated, she just wants to run out of the coffee shop. No,
she says to herself as she gathers her thoughts. He knows you exist and that is a bonus.
She proudly lifts her head again with that thought and smiles.
After one last view of this stranger, she knows it’s time to go back to work. There’s always tomorrow,
she says to herself. She stands and waits for the elevator to arrive.
Hello,
a man’s voice protrudes from behind her. As she turns, she is silenced by his presence. Her unknown stranger is standing directly in front of her.
Oh,
she mutters as she sucks on her straw. Struggling hard to find her words, she quietly says, Hi.
I notice you come here every day,
he replies. I was just wondering where you were going. Do you work upstairs?
I do,
she replies as she carefully watches his lips move as he talks.
So you must be in the insurance business,
he adds.
Yes, I am, but it’s not very exciting. It is definitely not a career choice for me,
she replies as she giggles.
Well, I just might have to take a look at some of your rates one day. I would like to see if you could get me a better rate on my motorcycle insurance. Could you do that for me?
he asks
Yes, I can. Would you like to come up right now?
she asks.
I would love to, but I have somewhere I need to be right now. How about tomorrow?
he asks.
Sure. You know where I work, so I will see you about 1:00 p.m. tomorrow?
Sounds perfect,
he replies as he smiles and walks away.
Whoa, what just happened?
she asks herself. I can’t believe I just talked to him.
Ding! The elevator arrives for the second time since she’s been standing there. She gets in and pushes floor two as her heart races like a race horse. He is even more gorgeous up close; I can’t wait to taste him, she thinks to herself. As her thoughts spin out of control, the elevator door opens. Okay, gather your thoughts,
she says to herself as she runs straight over to Lucy’s desk. I have a date,
she says before she even catches her breath.
Really,?
Lucy replies. Where are you guys going?
Well, I guess it’s not really a date. But he will be here tomorrow to get a motorcycle quote,
she adds as she smiles.
Oh, that’s great,
says Lucy. At least you have a chance to talk to him and get to know him a little better.
Yes, I do,
Sharon adds hastily. She quietly walks back to her desk thinking about how his ass looked in those leather pants.
Hours pass and it’s time to go home. She grabs her purse and key and closes down her computer. The sun has gone down and there is just a hint of orange left in the sky. Ding! Back down the elevator she goes and off to her car. She fumbles around her purse as she walks, looking for her cell phone. She places her purse down on the hood of the car and continues to search. Ah,
she says as she reaches for it. She reaches for the door to put her purse in on the passenger’s side.
Hello,
a familiar voice says as she frantically looks up.
Hello to you,
she replies as she realizes it is her familiar stranger friend. Whoa, I was not expecting to see you here,
she says as she throws her purse in the car.
I really wasn’t expecting to be here,
he replies as he moves in closer.
Feeling frozen in the moment, she asks, Well, what has you visiting me again?
I thought about you all day and I know you have been thinking of me too. There’s a reason I visit this coffee shop every day, and there is a reason you meet me here every day. Am I reading the situation correctly?
he asks hesistantly.
No, I don’t believe that you are wrong,
she replies. I never knew that you noticed.
Of course I did. There is a coffee shop near my house, 5 miles closer. If I really wanted coffee I would have gone there,
he replies with a smile.
Oh,
she says. So, what do you suggest we do about this situation then?
I suggest you lock up your car and come with me for a ride on the back of my bike. See? I brought an extra helmet,
he says proudly.
Wow. What if I said no?
she asks.
"You won’t. You
