    Samantha took a deep breath, and took the chance to look around. Jungle surrounded them on all sides; the only clear section was the path they now walked on. The hotel was no longer in sight and she had lost all sense of time.

    She could see Brian waiting up ahead for her, leaning against a tree she couldn’t name.

    Taking another deep breath she set off once more. Brian had his slightly over sized wide brimmed hat on, his explorer’s hat he called it, sunglasses hid his soft brown eyes, his shirt and shorts fitted him like a dream as far as Samantha was concerned. She knew he worried about putting more weight on but she thought he looked perfect and always would. Breathing heavily she finally reached him. He waved a map at her.

    Look it’s not far now, according to this trail map it’s just round the next corner.

    Samantha blinked sweat stinging her eyes.

    You’ve been saying that for at least three turns now. I really don’t think you’ve been reading it right.

    Brian laughed and sighing again Samantha shook her head and carried on. The path wound its way down to the left. So she followed it. Up ahead she saw a colourful bird hopping about on the path, she paused to watch him when she felt Brian’s fingers entwine in hers, he squeezed and she smiled.

    She had been hesitant when he had suggested coming to Bali for their thirtieth wedding anniversary, but now they were here on this tropical island she realised it was the perfect way to celebrate.

    The bird decided that it had had enough and flew off leaving the path clear.

    I wonder what kind of bird that was; it’s a pity I left the bird book back in the room. I’ll have to remember to look it up when we get back. She murmured wishing she’d even just remembered the camera let alone the book.

    Brian squeezed her hand once more then led her forward down the path.
