About this ebook

Who among us can ever forget such all time favourites as Halloween, Psycho and Jaws? And no matter how many times we may have watched these cult films, they still manage to keep us on the edge of our seats. The Horror Film Quiz Book is a definitive guide to things that go bump in the night and the 1,000 questions contained inside the cover will test your memory of the writers, characters, human and inhuman monsters that inhabit the world of horror. With sections on all the best-loved spine tingling films from yesteryear through to the current day, this book is a must have for all fans of the genre but be prepared for one or two surprises as, in the world of horror, things are not always as they seem.

    Foreword

So you think you know it all? Do you really know how to invoke the Candyman? Are you certain you’re the biggest Eli Roth aficionado; or do you secretly think Pinhead is a type of Pokemon?

Chris and Mark have pulled together a truly fun quiz book that will test any maniac’s horror knowledge. Ranging from the fringes of film to mainstream horror, there is something that will allow every unwilling victim to participate.

If you’re as jaded as I am with run-of-the-mill party games or long journeys with somebody you would rather throttle and send on a one-way trip to Barrow, then The Horror Film Quiz book is a perfect remedy to quench those moments of insanity. Or if you dare, why not curl up in the dark, alone, and repeat the title of the book three times...

    Introduction by Chris Cowlin

I would first of all like to thank Andy Briggs for writing the foreword to this book. I am very grateful to him for his help and support on this project.

I would also like to thank everyone for their comments and reviews on this book (these can be found at the back of the book).

I have always enjoyed watching horror films, I can remember the first few being Jaws and Psycho which I really enjoyed, these are films you can watch over and over again.

I hope you enjoy this book. Hopefully it should bring back some wonderful and scary memories!

Mark and I have given you a selection of easy, medium and hard questions so it will be fun for all the family!

In closing, I would like to thank all my friends and family for encouraging me to complete this book.

    Best wishes

    Introduction by Mark Goddard

As a fan of horror this book has not only been a joy to co-write but is also my homage to the genre itself. It has been a great experience re-watching the old classics as well as getting a chance to watch some of the films that I would never normally pick off the shelf.

I would like to give special thanks to a few people, as without their help I would never have been able to finish the book: screenwriter Andy Briggs for writing the forward for me; fellow horror fan and siction guru Jack Staynes, who managed to get hold of some films that had escaped my grasp; Mark Le-Leivre at Bristol community radio for airtime to promote the book; the boys and girls from The Haunt for their help and support; Scott for sorting out my author picture; the staff at Waterstone’s in both Culver Square and High Street, Colchester, for all their encouragement; and a big thanks to my cousin Wayne, who has spent many years watching some of the worst and some of the best horror films imaginable. Lastly, my biggest thank you goes to my Mum and Dad. Thank you for all your support throughout the writing of this book and for all the films you have bought me as birthday and Christmas presents over the years.

The Horror Film Quiz Book is a collection of some of the best movies that filled my teen and adult years, together with some new delights that I had the pleasure of watching while researching this book. So get behind your sofa, hide under the covers, grab a crucifix and prepare to delve into the chilling world of the horror movie. Enjoy!
