About this ebook

A critically acclaimed experimantal collection of poetry, or rather the story of a troubled soul in verse: the journey starts with the mysterious 'Ybo''; the mind is lost in psychedelic and foggy lines. Then Heav'n from Hell takes the reader into the conflict of the adolescent soul with predecessors, followed by flickers, minature spiritual landscapes that look at the Metaphysical Traditionto sketch subtle emotions. War, anger, frustration, love, confusion, death, religion and a dip into the erotic then lead to final burlesque.

Ybo' and Other Lies - Adriano Bulla

    journey.

    Author’s Preface

Who or what is the Poet? One cannot speak for everybody, but from one’s own experience; ideas create themselves, and when looking at the great predecessors, much greater than myself for sure, I can only start with the words of the Bard of the Twentieth Century: the Poet is a catalyst.

Although I have often felt frustration at the anodyne definition of the Master, it is for sure not through the Poet’s will that Poesy speaks and Poetry comes to life, rather the soul of the Poet finds herself being used by the Muse, in circumstances which I will try here to descry, against her own volition, and forced, as it were, by coincidences far beyond her powers, to labour on feelings and states of mind over which she has no control, and scribe them in a form and style which are commanded by metaphysical powers.

The Poet cannot choose when to write, what to write about, but can only offer his skills as an amanuensis to the high goal and vision which is granted to the soul to be as loyal and faithful a craftsman of meaning as the state of the mind and heart allows: through Beatrice the design of God reveals itself al Summo Poeta.

Poetry, then, only happen when Poesy and craftsmanship come together.

These circumstances are unique; when the Universe comes together in a single line Poesy chooses the scribe, not any scribe, but the appropriate life with the right craft to raise to the challenge, and a soul open to the sound of that distinct emotion, and paired, for lack of a better word, to the right poet at that moment in time. And there is a difference between the Poet and the scribe, though both need to come together in the service of Poesy.

I do not believe the Poet really exists in the physical world, for he is a musical instrument of the metaphysical, the notes and chords of the universal consciousness its music; the scribe the lyre player.

The workings of Fate in such process are beyond human comprehension,: she works on time lines and patterns that encompass aeons within instants, on levels exponential to the four dimensions of tradition; every second of one’s life, every feeling, every thought, every missed chance come together like bubbles in a cosmic wave for a time beside Xpòvc himself, the soul of the Poet is dragged into that moment aside the life of the author, one feels it surging, and ebbing away, and it is this feeling which urges the author to take up the
