Be Happy And Smile
Don’t we all admire the person who always manages to paste a smile, no matter what complications are bothering them? Everyone wants to be happy but too many expectations that fall beyond reality makes happiness impossible. Ask yourself if you want to be with someone who is constantly complaining about every silly little thing or someone who is always happy and bubbly.
Where do the complaints come from even if we have everything in life? Never appreciating what you have leads to unhappiness. Rich or poor, everyone wants more than what they have. The best way to be content is to think of those who are less fortunate than you. Think of those who don’t have food on the table, have lost a dear one or have to cope with a life threatening disease.
Constant unhappiness makes you loose your sense of humour and therefore makes it hard for that occasional light-hearted joke and laugh. A grumpy approach makes the opposite person give you the same gloomy face and you end up thinking to yourself, what an attitude he has! So don’t expect a smile and a nice attitude, when all you have to show for yourself is a frown.
If you think wealth and fame will make you happy, ask why the wealthiest and the most popular people in the world like the late Michael Jackson and Britney Spears have their share of troubles? A number of people long for fame, yet famous people are idols of the paparazzi. Once you acquire fame, you long for privacy, so there is no end to acquiring the luxuries of life.
Research states, lottery winners are no happier than an average person within a few months. The greed for wealth deprives you of quality time with family and friends. The time that has gone can never come back and destiny is beyond our control.
Who knows how many days we, our family and friends have left in this world? Tragedy occurs without any warning. Today maybe the last day of your life...death is inevitable and strikes at any time.
Good deeds and wisdom will give you happiness while anger, jealousy, lies and ungratefulness will just add to more problems. There are wealthy people in this world who are still not happy. They don’t appreciate what they have and just desire more. Despite having everything to lead a comfortable life, the greed of wanting more and more creates unhappiness. Desires in life are endless.
Are You Unhappy?
A smile for family, friends, workmates and general public becomes difficult when you don’t forget about the minor troubles in your life. Although some of your life’s problems may be too complicated to forget, try to reserve the depressive look on your face for when you’re alone or are confiding in someone you trust. You may not realize it but a depressed, troubled face does reveal itself.
Accept that life does have unexpected difficulties, and you need to solve them in the most efficient way. If it is some problem of the past, try your best to forget about it. If someone has hurt you with harsh words, it happens, accept that some people are just very straightforward and others may have the cruel words in their thoughts yet they just don’t come out with it.
If someone criticizes you, think about it and give yourself hope to improve on the critical point. Think positive, maybe this person wants the better for you. After all, everyone has some sort of criticism in their mind; it’s just that some people just can’t help being blunt.
Often, negative issues in your past life come back to haunt you. Although it’s not easy to forget, try concentrating on the future and the present. Whenever your mind is troubled, get out of it by keeping yourself occupied with a hobby and think about what you can do to make yourself and your life better.
Expectations are often responsible for unhappiness. Why didn’t they ask me first? Why didn’t they greet me first? They manage to upset you to such a great extent but you can’t really do anything about it. People do tend to forget certain formalities and an attitude like that just puts people off. Be yourself and don’t expect to be treated like royalty.
Ask yourself what is causing unhappiness in your life. If it is someone who always upsets you in some way, keep a distance as long as they are not a close relation and don’t talk too much in their presence, as it may just lead to inconclusive arguments. If it is a very complicated situation in life, like marital problems, then you really need to sort out the problem and have a solution instead of never-ending complaints. These are major issues in life and you need to come to a wise decision after a lot of thought and sometimes even counselling.
Sad but true, life can’t be filled with never-ending happiness. While there are happy occasions like childbirth and weddings, sad incidents of life like death and divorce are destined for human beings. For more children to come in to this world, people have to die. Death is one of the most difficult emotional disturbances in life and although reasons for death and life spans vary, everyone has to go now or later. Accept it within yourself that a tragedy can occur at any time of your life, life has to and will continue. Often, tragedies in life can change you and make you stronger with a different approach to life.
To be positive in life, you need to realize that some things just happen for the better of it. A couple may divorce because they could never have been happy together so better now than a life of never-ending misery, likewise it might be better for a child to die if he has to live with a major disability.
Never forget that others don’t even have what you are blessed with and all those celebrities in the glamour world, whom you envy, have their fair share of troubles in life. They too cannot live forever and they are not spared with life threatening diseases like cancer and AIDS. They seem to have so much money but a number of those celebrities are still drowning in debt because there is always the greed for more and never the satisfaction with what they have.
The key to happiness and a smile on your face is being grateful for what you are blessed with. Think of those that have to make do without the basic necessities of life and those people who live with major physical deformities. So, be happy and smile!
Building A Good Character
Nobody is perfect. Neither is considering yourself to be perfect going to help. Thinking you are the best or superior to everyone else will never help to build your character. Think about what is immoral and how bad character affects those around you ……your wife, children and parents. How do you improve your character and make yourself a better person for those whom you care about as well as yourself?
One of the most destructive emotions is anger. Anger leads to
