About this ebook
For Alpha Jet Gorman, discovering the origins of his pack’s newest members has provided more questions than answers. Like why would someone deliberately expose the existence of supernatural beings to the human world through in vitro fertilization? And more importantly...cui bono? Who benefits most from the Revelation? With the threat of betrayal a constant presence running through the Vieux Carré, at least Jet can count on Nico to have his back.
Ancient vampire Nico Sanzio da Urbino has been given an order to kill a werewolf—not unusual given his job as an enforcer. The problem lies in the fact the targeted Alpha is often in Nico’s bed—or vice versa—and may just be that elusive soul mate he has never quite believed in. Not to mention Jet’s blood fairly sings through Nico’s veins. Caught somewhere between the Paranormal Odd Squad, the all powerful Vampire Council, and a promise to his oldest friend, Nico must make a choice before someone realizes he hasn’t carried out his orders—and takes the matter out of his hands.
With the New Orleans preternatural population continuing to increase at an unnatural rate, the local Alpha and the Odd Squad’s chief enforcer should have their attention focused on maintaining the human-to-super status quo, but with things between them at an incendiary high, their mutual distraction could prove deadly—for everyone.

Chapter One
Eyeing the heavy-duty dead bolt on Artie’s front door, Jet was glad he wouldn’t have to practice his lock-picking skills to get inside. Earlier in the day, Artie’s fiancé Ben had handed over his house keys along with a whispered request, which only partially explained letting himself into a friend’s house unannounced. He slid the key into the lock, and with one last glance around to confirm the absence of demons, he stepped inside.
Honey? What are you doing home so early? Is everything okay?
Artie’s voice drifted from one of the back bedrooms, a little more raspy than usual. The words were rushed together, a layer of tension evident. Not wanting to cause any more anxiety than necessary, Jet answered right away.
You can call me honey if you want, but I think your fiancé might take offense. And please tell me you’re dressed, Mojo Man.
Jet glanced around the small front room of Ben and Artie’s second temporary living quarters in two months. The first had been deemed unsuitable when their friend had been murdered on the front porch. Which had everything to do with why Jet was here and not supervising the Halloween decorating at Fangs. To be fair, he would have let Celeste be in charge of that particular function anyway, since it was her idea. As he’d pointed out, they were a werewolf pack that owned a bar that catered to the preternatural population. Spooky decorations seemed redundant.
"Shit." The whispered curse word carried easily to Jet’s sensitive werewolf ears.
Not very nice—you’ll hurt my feelings talking that way. Now are you going to come out to your living room? Or do I have to come get you?
He eyed the inflatable couch and opted for a gunmetal gray chair at the folding card table instead. I’m not going away, in case you were wondering…
How did you get in here, anyway? If that’s supposed to make me feel safer… You couldn’t have simply called?
Whatever Artie was doing at the back of the apartment, it didn’t involve moving, because as soon as he stopped speaking, only the sound of his rapid breathing could be heard.
Ben didn’t seem to think so. Now get your pants on, we have somewhere we need to be.
Ben? What’s he got to do—
He’s the one who gave me the keys. Now hustle your butt. Trav and Sam are waiting.
That seemed to intrigue Artie, who took a few hesitant steps through the bedroom doorway. Jet tried not to wince at the changes in the man since he’d last seen him. Circles dark as bruises underscored his normally bright blue eyes. His hair was neatly combed, but the normal two-day beard looked to be closer to a week, and his clothes hung loosely. Ben had been right—Artie needed to find a
