Holly von Patton and the Intelligent Design
()
About this ebook
First in this series, this prequel introduces Holly and her friends, explaining how they met and learned to use the power of the Intelligent Design.
HOLLY VON PATTON is an Honor Student preparing to gain some knowledge with a summer job, hoping to follow the career paths of her Mother and Father as a Neuro-Psychologist. The summer job offers her experience, which will likely make her college acceptance at UC Berkeley attainable. Despite all her successes, Holly feels something is missing in her life. Holly wants to make an impression on her world by accomplishing something worthwhile in the spreading of Good and driving away Evil.
Then Holly meets DUNCAN MAXWELL, a wealthy bachelor with penetrating blue eyes and a unique past. Dr. Maxwell was born in 1245AD and has lived to be 770, though he doesn’t look a day older than 60. Within 24 hours of meeting Duncan, Holly’s understanding of the world turns upside down, and she finds herself leading a team of friends fighting for their lives against a Russian Megalomaniac whose idol is Rasputin.
BORIS SUMONAVITCH, on the other side of the world has sent a team trained in what he calls the “Dark Force” to test LA for a takeover as a first step in his quest for World Domination. Boris takes absolutely no risks himself and rules his Coven with an iron hand.
Holly has just started using her entire brainpower to improve the human condition. How will she and her friends react to find there are others in the world using their abilities for selfish purposes — literally using the “Dark Force” as a focus for their mental prowess?
Filled with LA gangs, Russian immigrants and more, “Holly von Patton and the Intelligent Design” follows Holly through a gauntlet of training, trouble and turmoil, leading up to a final climactic realization that may end with her own undoing.

Pre-Publication Reviews
"Holly von Patton and the Intelligent Design"
I bought this book not knowing the author. After reading it, I feel like I discovered a book like Harry Potter
before the masses did. Starting with the prequel, I got the author’s metaphor of how Holly and her friends got started, and it is super-realistic. The book was so good that I immediately purchased book 2, which was so well written that I am eagerly awaiting the third book, which is scheduled for a Fall release. (★★★★★)
CH Roberts4th is a new author who will be very well known soon. The central concept in Holly von Patton and the Intelligent Design
is a completely new twist on the development of special powers - It just might be possible! By applying oneself in the way this book suggests, you may gain access to more brainpower! (★★★★★)
I really liked this book! I would have given it five stars but gave it four since it left me wanting more. I guess that’s why it’s the Prequel. So I bought the next one right away… (★★★★★)
I liked this book very much. The idea of Science meeting Fantasy is great. (★★★★★)
This book set up the stage for the others, so it’s truly a prequel. The story drew me in almost right away—I liked the realism of the fantasy. (★★★★★)
CH Roberts4th’s knowledge of Psychology is excellent—He creates a plausible progression that seems likely to work. I have never read a fantasy before that seemed to be real. Kudos to the Author! (★★★★★)
I feel like I’ve learned some basic Psychology after reading this-Painlessly and with a dash of humor-the way it should be learned. I told a friend who is a School Psychologist, and he also bought and enjoyed this book. He attested to the realism. (★★★★★)
I bought these books with no knowledge of the Author’s ability, and was quickly rewarded with a great story. Everyone has to start out with being unknown, but this author will be well known soon. The story is believable fantasy, a first for me. (★★★★★)
Try this book-You’ll like it! I could not put it down, and bought the second right away, so I would be able to continue. Terrific writing, great characters and dialog. (★★★★★)
This series is great believably written fantasy, with a grain of realism that seems possible. I’d recommend it to anyone! (★★★★★)
Holly von Patton is a believable heroine, with believable goals. She finds herself in an unbelievable situation and acts accordingly. Her friends are nice and her enemies are hard to beat until she figures out the secret. The Golden Rule applies… (★★★★★)
This book was one I purchased without knowing the Author from before. Now I will buy anything he writes, it’s that good! (★★★★★)
This book starts with some education on the subject, but quickly segues into fast paced action. Good read! (★★★★★)
The Author knows his subject, and explains it well. While this is a Fantasy, it has elements of Realism. (★★★★★)
Great beginning for the series. You will love the characters, I did! (★★★★★)
"Holly von Patton and the Price of Russian Doorknobs"
I could not be happier with this book. The story picks up where the first one left off in true serial format. Without giving away the plot twists I’ll just say that the characters are truly believable, including the villains. This author develops characters better than almost anyone I’ve read, and the use of Karma as a true cause of life’s failures and successes is spot on. (★★★★★)
I purchased the second book before finishing the first. The story is THAT GOOD! The second book continued the tale and there were surprises galore. I can’t wait for the next installment—CH Roberts4th is my new favorite author—What comes next is on my must-read list! (★★★★★)
Holly von Patton and the Price of Russian Doorknobs
was even better than the first book! I am originally from Southern California, and the scenery is truly realistic. It’s like being there again! This book was so good I went to the Author’s website (http://www.CHRoberts4th.com) and signed up for email notification when new books are released. (★★★★★)
The second book had more of a humorous flavor which I liked. It started right where the first one ended, which is great in a serial series. Can’t wait for the next three books! (★★★★★)
Even before finishing the first book, I purchased the second. I just wish the others were available right away, because now I can’t wait to see what happens next! (★★★★★)
The second book in the Holly von Patton
Series was even more fun than the first. I could not put it down, and now I am eagerly awaiting more from the Author! (★★★★★)
The story gets better and better as it progresses. The Villain (Tsar Boris
) is funny as well as the Epitome of Evil. His girlfriend is really patient with him-more than he deserves. But that makes them seem human as well as giving some humorous touches. (★★★★★)
This book was even better than the first. If I could give it ten stars, I would! This may be the next best selling series. (★★★★★)
I felt like I was there in Omniversal
Theme Park and at the La Brea Tar Pits. The twists in this story are very unexpected, but make sense at the end. Fantastic Reality and Realistic Fantasy at once! (★★★★★)
The second in the series shows the compassion for others that Holly has learned from the first. Holly is the best heroine in terms of being able to understand her opponents and treat even the worst of them humanely, This sets the story apart as being a good example of how to treat situations with morality. (★★★★★)
I bought this second book in the series when I was halfway through the first—the story is great, and I wish I could buy the rest! Now I have to wait—It’s like Harry Potter all over again. (★★★★★)
The second book is even better! I love the believability factor, and the characters seem alive to me. The Evil Villain (Boris) is as funny as he is despicable. The author has a good sense of humor as well as a great way of integrating Psychology into his work. (★★★★★)
The second book starts with a trial of the Villain’s Leaders
, and then gets into a edge of the seat chase, followed by many twists and turns in the plot. The ending has a eye popping 180 that floored me, but made a lot of sense. (★★★★★)
An introduction to Pop Psychology told as an Action Thriller. Just believable enough to engross you into the tale, just far out enough to be entertaining. (★★★★★)
Like the Harry Potter series, this builds on the familiarity of the lead characters and their interactions. Well written and a great choice if you like Fantasy, but more believable with realistic locations and characters. (★★★★★)

About the Author
CHAPTER ONE—Home is Where Everything Begins
Dawn broke in the Oasis Gated Community as it had every day since Holly von Patton was a child—beautiful, balmy, and that perfect weather that can only be found in paradise. It was the start of a new day and Holly arose instantly, refreshed from her sound sleep. She was excited by the knowledge that today began her Internship at the Institute of Aging. Her summer job was a good choice for her selected career path, since she had every intention of attending UC Berkeley in two years. Berkeley’s Neuro-Psychology program was the best available. Holly was focused on this for a career, since her Father was a well known Psychiatrist and her Mother was an eminent Neurosurgeon.
Holly had been awaiting the opportunity to begin training in her chosen career for some time and was looking forward to meeting her Mentor and the others, who like her, were interested in this type of work. It seemed to be a chance to do something important with her life. Dedicating herself to bettering life for others had always been her goal. Today was the first day of the rest of her life, she thought, and it made her feel warm and special. How could you do better than to spend your time helping others? You could even make a good living in health services, as she knew from the financially successful careers her parents had attained.
Holly quickly performed her morning routine and headed downstairs to have breakfast with her parents. The aroma emanating from the kitchen enticed her, as she greeted her parents.
Hi, Dad—Hi, Mom! Breakfast sure smells good!
Good Morning, Princess,
said her Father. You sure are enthusiastic today—oh yes, it’s your first day at the Institute.
Morning, Holly, Dear—I made your favorite. Cinnamon French Toast Croissants, just coming up,
said Holly’s Mother.
Thanks Mom, I really enjoy your specialty, especially since I know you have a busy schedule,
said Holly.
Well, today is special, what with you starting your Internship at the Institute,
Mother replied. I thought starting the day with your favorite breakfast would give you extra confidence.
Holly sat down and enjoyed her Cinnamon-garnished French Toasted Croissants with her Mother, while her Father read the local newspaper, having already eaten.
More gang activity in LA, but we’re in for a great weather week, the heat wave has broken, and the Pacific breezes are coming from the shore. What time are you expected to be in today, Holly?
asked her Father.
The Staff Orientation Meeting is set for 10:00 am, with an hour for filling out forms, so I’m due in at nine—since the Institute is right off the 215 Freeway in Murrieta, it should only take twenty minutes or so. I guess I’ll leave at 8:15 to be sure to get a good seat,
said Holly.
Your car is full of gas,
Mother said, So you’ll be fine—Are you sure you remember the directions?
I’ve already got them programmed into the GPS,
said Holly, satisfying her Mother’s concern. I did it last night before bed.
That’s my girl, I knew you’d be prepared,
said Mother.
I sure want this day to go smoothly—a whole lot is riding on my Internship. I hope the Institute will help me to focus my growth, and provide a good reference for Berkeley,
said Holly.
Holly finished eating, and took her plate and silverware to the sink and pre-washed them. Her Mother
