About this ebook

William Wordsworth's beautiful quote on poetry, "Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart," aptly describes the poems in the author's debut poetry book, Heartfelt Poems! When the breathings and pouring of the heart take the form of poems, they strike a chord with everyone.
This book brings forth a compendium of thirty one poems, written in traditional style, catering to a wide range of human emotions, experienced in the ongoing journey of life. The poems, "Dear God, I Wish to Thank You Today" and "A Plea to Humanity", resurrect the faith in the Almighty and in humanity, whereas "The Power of Positive Thoughts" and "Beautiful Lessons of Life" inspire us to never give up.
The author's love for nature is reflected in the poem "Never Ever Cease to Appreciate". In the section, "Touching Tributes", the author pays homage to women in "An Ode to Women Power" and Dr Abdul Kalam in "A Tribute to a Great Soul". In her medley of poems, "Poetic Potpourri", "Simplicity" and "Your Attitude Defines Who You Are," are a must read! Followers of the author claim that she echoes their own sentiments through her Heartfelt Poems.

    Preface

As aptly quoted by Edward Young, There is something about poetry beyond prose logic, there is a mystery in it, not to be explained but admired.

    In my words…

When we express a beautiful thought through a string of words put together eloquently, conveying the thought in an explicit and exotic manner, a poem is created!

I have been hearing this, from writers, publishers and friends, that poetry has a very small niche amongst readers. One publisher went to the extent of saying, Poetry is only for the nears and dears. However, that did not curb my enthusiasm or make me any less optimistic to write and publish my poems.

Yet, it is true that very few people today have a passion to read poetry, leave alone write poetry.

I have had the passion for reading and writing poetry since my school days. I also have my blog with the same title as this book and whenever my fans appreciate my poems, I know I have struck a chord with them.

I hope to strike a chord with many other poetry lovers, through this book.

These poems touch emotions and reflect sentiments of ‘You and Me’ or better still, ‘Each one of Us’. Very often friends and followers of my poems have expressed that when they read my poems, they feel I am echoing their own sentiments. That is precisely why, I have named this collection of poems ‘Heartfelt’.

The first section of my poems, ‘Soulful Prayers’ comprises of five poems, of which the poem ‘Lord Ganesha’ mentions some of the popular names of Ganesha along with their meanings, whereas ‘We pray to you Almighty Lord’, is a simple rendition of our daily conversations with God.

The consecutive section of poems, the ‘Inspirational Songs’ has four poems, of which ‘The Power of Positive Thoughts’ and ‘Fight Away Your Blues!’ are special, as they essay the spirit of ‘never ever giving up’ during the periods of trials.

‘Nature Nurtures’, the third section conveys my endless love for Nature through five poems. ‘Sheer Poetry’ and ‘Never Ever Cease to Appreciate’ are reminders to myself and all others to be grateful to Nature for its ‘Beauty and Bounty’. We cannot pay back to the earth for its endless gifts but we need to remind ourselves time and again, that we owe a lot to our planet and need to nurture it.

In the fourth Section, ‘Touching Tributes’, ‘A Tribute to a Great Soul’ and ‘An Ode to Women Power’ are my favourite poems and the poem ‘Memories of my alma mater’ carries unforgettable memories
