January Highlands: Stupid Birds
()
About this ebook
The life of 4 animal entertainers through their joys and adventures in the town of J.H
Love and tragedy meet under the same roof with ordinary, miraculous, and a spectacular intrigue of thoughts and actions. Stupid Birds is a novel presenting the lives of 4 characters through their joys and adventures in the fictitious town of January Highlands (J.H). J.H. is a classic southern settlement in the United States and it has a mixture of immigrants who came for a better and a fair chance in life. Just imagine how the lives of the people intertwine with the town itself, each one with its own uniqueness. As the characters live out their lives; Robby, Ronnie and David with the special band and Nina, the main feminine figure... there comes a moment when things take a different turn and they get spiced up.
In those crucial moments, when love spurs and things seem to come to the right path, a tragedy occurs and Robby is badly injured by an elephant at the circus where they were working with the band. From that moment on, things take a downward spiral and the characters transform in an unpredictable end. Hearts are broken, tears are spilled and love is consumed in a real lesson of life, love and cold blooded judgment
Mythica Mayan
Mythica Mayan writes about January Highlands. The author dedicates all writings to all animals in the world. The author considers animals as brothers and sisters, but the author doesn’t have any pets at home because the author respects all of them!! The author’s own favorite quote is ‘a stupid bird flying in the sky is better than an intelligent frog in a well’! Mythica Mayan writes stories only about the January Highlands (J.H), a fictitious classic town down south in the United States. J.H is an old place of ranchers and cattle raisers, but the region kept to its old habits when people adapted to the new technologies and demands. The architecture of the city is mostly classical, but it is filled with people who are immigrants from all over the world. The diversity in terms of race and culture made J.H a special place because even if English was the official language, you could hear all kinds of languages depending on how mad a wife was or how nervous a man was at the bar after a long day in the cornfields. January Highlands is defined by the unity in diversity and even if the southern merchants got ripped off each summer by the people of the north, they’ll start again and again doing the same thing each year with smiles on their faces as if nothing had happened. This made life easier and happier to live in J.H!

Preface
January Highlands (J.H) is a fictitious classic town down south in the United States. It is an old place of ranchers and cattle raisers, but the region kept to its old habits when people adapted to the new technologies and demands. The settlement lies in a fairy like environment in a depression, which is surrounded by high hills and multiple rivers that provide its people with fresh water and a source of fresh fish.
The architecture of the city is mostly classical, but it is filled with people who are immigrants from all over the world. These people are from places like Brazil, Colombia, Serbia and a family that came even from Vietnam. So between the houses with the classical porches and the swing set close to the front door, you will see specific ornaments and things from each and every culture that gathered here in hopes for a better life
The town itself is somewhat isolated from the rest of the towns in the surrounding area. The only thing that links them together is a railroad and highway that is a bit farther from J.H. People had to walk or drive a bit to get to it. Even so, the people loved their town and lifestyles. They loved raising cattle and working on the land which was a part of their being and they couldn’t think of anything else to do. The bond between the people of J.H and their animals was something like the bond between the Moon and the Earth. You couldn’t see it, but it was stronger than ever!
The event that defines January Highlands was its cattle fair. This was an annual fair where people from the north of the country would come in search for good deals on meat and other types of businesses such as investments. Even if the people worked hard with sweat on their foreheads all day long, they just couldn’t get ahead or enrich themselves because their work was not valued as it should have been. They loved what they did anyway and as long they could make ends meet, it was enough for them. Paper dollars didn’t have too much worth in this part of the country because people cherished other things such as empathy and humanity. These people would help each other any time no matter if some had more and some had less!
The diversity in terms of race and culture made J.H a special place because even if English was the official language, one could hear all kinds of languages depending on how mad a wife was or how nervous a man was at the bar after a long day in the cornfields. January Highlands is defined by the unity in diversity and even if the southern merchants got ripped off each summer by the people of the north, they’ll start again and again doing the same thing each year with smiles on their faces as if nothing had happened. This made life easier and happier to live in J.H!

Chapter 1
New Life in A Friendly Place
Nina’s Perspective
There was a peaceful atmosphere in J.H, and that summer had been significantly hot, nothing unusual for the burning south. We folk down here are used to the heat; we even
