    CHAPTER 1

    Issues

Praise God brother or sister, I am truly blessed to know the Lord has drawn you to this book. It’s simple, straightforward and I know it will bless and encourage you as it has blessed me to write it. I truly give all glory and honor to my Lord, Jesus Christ.

If you have been like me, you’re searching for answers to problems you may have. Well, I found my answers in the Word of the Lord and you can too! The Bible says search the scriptures (St. John 5:39). So let’s begin our search.

Why does it seem as though we Christians have so many unresolved issues? If it’s not one thing it’s another. But we’re saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Spirit and even speak in tongues. What’s up with that? Satan, we say, is under our feet and I am the blessed of the Lord. Yet we walk around all down and depressed with a long face that’s supposed to be so spiritual quoting scriptures.

A person may ask you a simple question like, how are you doing? And with a halting look we say, BLEEEEESED AND HIGHLY FAVORED! Yet we continue to complain about the problems we have, saying the Lord is trying you with trials and tribulations to strengthen your faith. Well, that may be true, but have you ever considered what King Solomon said? Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom; and with all thy getting get understanding - Proverbs 4:7.

The Bible doesn’t need to be interpreted but revealed by the Holy Spirit. He is the Teacher and Revealer of the Word of God. That has been a major issue – interpretations, instead of revelation. Too many people have been misled because of interpretations. Frankly speaking, the interpretations all seem to have to do with getting more of your hard earned money or placing the responsibility for your actions on someone else.

Don’t get me wrong, the workman is worthy of his hire (St. Luke 10:7), and in that sense, souls were to be gathered because the harvest was great but the laborers were few. They were instructed to go forth and heal the sick and declare that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. Just look around and you will see a lot of people who love the Lord, yet they’re sick and have a lot of Issues.

We can be sick in many ways: Sick of ourselves, sick of the way we look, sick of our husbands, sick of our wives, sick of our children, sick of our jobs, sick of where we live and the list goes on. Not just a physical sickness, but it can be emotional, psychological or spiritual. However, Jesus Christ paid the price for them all.

So why do we have so many Issues? What are your Issues and what are you sick and tired of??? In St. Luke’s Gospel Chapter 8:41-43 a ruler of the synagogue named Jairus and his daughter had an Issue. While Jesus was on his way with him to attend to their Issue, following behind were multitudes of people, where another Issue came up (Verse 43).

If you think you have problems, look at what was really going on with this woman. Excuse me for being graphic, but I want to paint a vivid picture for you.

Number l: Blood was flowing from her for twelve years. Can you imagine how inconvenient that was? Back then there were no modern conveniences and products like women have today. In addition, blood smells to high heaven especially with the flow she obviously had with nothing to staunch it with.

Number 2: She suffered not one thing, but many things of the many physicians she went to. To suffer according to Webster’s Dictionary means to endure pain, also to tolerate or undergo damage or loss. The scripture doesn’t say what she suffered exactly, or what the physicians were doing to her, but it had to be great bodily harm, not to mention the intense pain, aggravation, despondency, and her personal loss. After all of this happening to her, she knew she was getting worse.

Number 3: Her living was in jeopardy because she was running out of money and subject to becoming homeless with nothing to eat nor the bare necessities to sustain her.

Now, put yourself in this woman’s shoes. You have endured sickness for years and have gone from church to church trying to find an answer for what’s ailing you and to receive healing, yet you’re still sick with your Issue.

You hear prophet so-and-so will be prophesying over at this church and you run over there for a while because you heard they had it going on. But you remain sick with your Issue. Then you hear about another church from your friends. You run over there and give your tithes and offerings. You volunteer your services, and depending on how much you give, if it’s a lot, then they may give you a spot (a position) with the higher echelon and maybe a seat on the front row. Yet again, the sickness and the Issue persists.

Another person tells you this church over here has a word for you! Prophet so-and-so will be prophesying on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. So you go over there and the prophet gives you a word. You get happy for a moment, praising God and thanking the Lord. Depending on whether it was truly the Holy Spirit speaking through that prophet, the word may or may not come true. If it does, praise God, but if it doesn’t well... you got it. The sickness and the Issue are still there. Finally, you come to the realization, like the woman did, that there was only one way she would be healed of her Issue. It was not running all over the place looking for a word, asking for someone else’s advice or asking them to pray for you. Let’s look at what this woman did.

Many people thronged her, but her eyes were only on one person, Jesus! She risked being stoned because of her condition. Would you be willing to risk being stoned to get to Jesus? Think before you answer that. To thine own self be true! This woman had nothing to lose, she was dying anyway. Without regard for her weakened condition and lack of money, she had a strong desire to do something. She didn’t allow her circumstances to dictate to her because of the obvious state she was in, nor the fact that the money she was living on was all gone.

The physicians she went to couldn’t heal her of her sickness. They didn’t have a cure for what this woman needed. The scriptures didn’t say she was crying, or felt sorry for herself. She wasn’t angry, blaming others for her circumstances, nor did she give up and say her circumstance was hopeless.

She didn’t have time for all of that, she only had one opportunity and she took it. She focused on her objective, which was Jesus! Did you know you can be in a church service with many others praising God, but none of you touch the Lord or get healed of your Issue? Someone else can come into the same service, not knowing much about Him but believe and get their healing. Why is that? God is no respecter of persons, so what’s wrong? You may need to pray and ask the Lord what’s blocking you from receiving from Him.

The woman with the Issue was able to touch Jesus, and He felt that touch. Will He feel yours? He should when you moved into the realm of the spirit and put your faith in Him and not the thing you are believing Him for.

She didn’t allow her emotions or fear to get in the way. And the scriptures does not say that she complained about it to her friends or family. She humbled herself and began to speak to her spirit. What else could she do? Everyone there wanted
