      Chapter 1 - Water Filters

      Yeah Mom, I’ll be fine; you know where I’m going I assured into my cellphone. I was going backpacking and would be by myself for half of the trip, before I would meet up with my friends to continue the journey. My Mother was a bit nervous that I would be by myself. Unlike myself, she wasn’t one for the outdoors.

      Emma please just be safe and keep your cell phone! She told me worriedly. I continued to assure absentmindedly and was finally able to get her off the phone. I love her, but geez; there wasn’t anything to worry about. I would backpack the same trail every year (this was my fourth time). So overall I’m pretty confident.

      At least that is what my thought process had been at the time... I didn’t realize that my life would take a drastic change because of a normal backpacking trip.

      I quickly smeared some cream cheese on a bagel and held it in my mouth while I grabbed my purse and keys. I had to run down to the recreational store to get some supplies before I go to work.

      With a mouth full of bagel I buckled up and made my to town in my yellow Jeep.

      I walked into Recreational Rex and waved to the cashier. I was a bit disappointed that his name wasn’t really Rex. It was actually William. He smiled and waved back to me. I was local at this store. I was here almost every week to pick up supplies for camping, fishing, or to just check out any new products.

      Whatcha looking for today? William asked me, he smiled and brushed his dirty blonde hair from his hazel eyes. I smiled shyly at him; he was hot so I was a little nervous to be talking to him.

      I need more filters for my water purifier I replied. He looked like he was thinking about and rubbed his scruff.

      Weren’t you just here yesterday? He asked.

      Haha, yeah... I trailed off, a little embarrassed. I had gone on a shopping spree to get supplies for my impending trip. But I forgot a few smaller things.

      Well, you probably know this store better than I do; let me know if you need help William laughed. I nodded in agreement with a small chuckle.
