    Their marriage had started out as a simple business arrangement. She was a struggling single mom about to do battle with her scheming, soon-to-be ex-husband -- who happened to be an attorney – over child support and alimony. 

    Tristan’s part of the bargain entailed helping her secure custody of her daughter and providing a financially secure future so she’d never have to worry about money again. In return, she would act as the perfect barrier between him and every gold-digging, wannabe-married female he encountered. 

    “But why marriage?" she'd asked when he proposed out of the blue. "And why me? If you wanted a wife, you could find one with far less baggage,” Lisa continued, knowing she shouldn’t be looking a gift horse in the mouth. 

    “You’re right. I probably could. But who else could I propose to in this manner? We’re starting out under no illusions … most women want the romance of it all. I told you, I’m not cut out for that. And to be blunt, I’m attracted to you. I can’t wait to have the right to have you in my bed. But I want you to come to me willingly,” he said, lowering his head to brush his lips across hers lightly again.
