With little hope for escape, Eva must face what she has been unable to, make a plea for help that she knows will be rejected. She must face the fact that the people she has judged in the past may not be as she thought they were, if she is to have the fate she’s fought so hard for.
Whatever Fate
Under threat of being beaten into submission where they stood, Eva and Mal were handcuffed and manhandled by Pamela’s armored guards into the black van parked the street in front of the church. There was little either of them could do, either to physically resist the heavily armed men or try to manipulate their guards’ behavior. Mal tried to console her, a trickle of blood running down his cheek from where he’d been hit, marring his attempted solace. I have friends in the council, in the community. They won’t stand by and do nothing.
He turned to them man next to him.
"And each of you will pay for your unquestioning obedience to the Prime. Do
