Introduction
Narcissistic Personality Disorder, or NPD, is so much more than a person being very selfish, as many people believe. It is a very complex, twisted and even sinister personality disorder.
Narcissists are completely self-absorbed. So much so, that they will not hesitate to use anyone in any way they see fit to accomplish their selfish goals. They will manipulate you, attempting to change how you see reality in order to keep you unbalanced (this is known as gaslighting or crazy making). This can make you doubt your sanity. They will destroy your self-esteem with the cruelest, harshest criticisms you can imagine. They will turn your family and friends against you, making them believe that you are the one with the problem, you are the abusive one or even that you are crazy. They will use you. They will take your money and/or possessions. In the mind of a narcissist, other people are on this planet simply to be used. People are more like a tool than a person in their minds, I believe. No one cares that they are using a screwdriver. That is the screwdriver’s purpose, after all, to be used. They have no feelings on the matter. That is how narcissists treat other people, as if they are alive simply to
