    Introduction

There's no magic formula for dealing with stress, but employing coping techniques that provide a release and minimizes the overall impact the stressor has on your body is a good way to stay healthy and happy.

For such a well understood and universally experienced condition, as a society we deal with stress very poorly, almost like a badge of honor of busyness or demonstrating responsibility or authority.

Stress doesn’t just affect us psychologically with the sensation of constriction and overwhelm, it is also extremely damaging to your health as our stress responses are activated so frequently. Stress leads to many of our most lethal illnesses and long-term health problems. High blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, obesity, and insomnia are all medical conditions across the spectrum that can be directly influenced or related to high stress environmental conditions.

There are primarily two types of stress: Acute (short-term) stress that's usually a response to a an influence. Whereas chronic (long-term) stress that stays with you, adopted from a short-term stress that stuck with you, or a constant state of stress that you're under due to persistent stressors and conditions. Acute stress is characterized by by an immediate or short term influence. In most cases, once the stressor has been removed, your body and mind return to a normal state. Acute stresses tend to promote physical responses at first such as your heart racing, feeling short of breath, muscles tightening somewhere in your body or being aware that you're having a physiological stress response.
