Chapter 1
Job 1:1 "There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job;
and that man was blameless, upright, fearing God and turning away from evil."
A black stretch Cadillac SUV carrying the world’s richest man pulled up to Jobe Towers in downtown New York City. Kristian Jobe, or simply Jobe
as everyone knew him, prepared to meet with his associates at his company’s headquarters. He had just been named to the top spot in Forbes World’s Richest Person
issue. His company had also been listed as the wealthiest in the world in the same publication. Vincent Pinkerton, the Vice President of Jobe Industries, rushed out with an entourage of men and women wearing dark business suits to greet him.
Vincent called out, Welcome to the number one company in the world, Mr. Jobe!
Thank you, Vincent. It's still just Jobe. I'm the same guy I was before a magazine decided to rank me as valuable.
Vincent laughed as they walked toward the building. How was your meeting at the church this morning? You know it's Monday. You don't have to go to church every day!
Jobe replied, We didn't go to church. I went with Father O'Malley and Pastor Taylor to help serve breakfast down at a homeless shelter in Harlem. It was very encouraging to see how the shelter is helping people. I know we give a lot to charity, but I think we're going to have to do more. There are lots of people who need additional help.
Jobe led his small army of associates past several flashing cameras into the lobby of the building. Jobe walked straight toward the young receptionist at the front desk.
He looked at her name badge. Good Morning, Julie. You’re new here. It's nice to meet you. I'm Jobe.
Good Morning, Mr. Jobe.
He smiled, It’s just Jobe. Is there anything you need to do your job better or more efficiently?
"No, sir! It’s very nice to meet you, too. Everything is great here. Congratulations on being named number one on Forbes list!"
Jobe turned and raised his voice for everyone in the lobby to hear, Congratulations to all of us. It's because of all of your hard work and God's favor we have succeeded.
It wasn't unusual
