Heather Beck is a Canadian Author and Screenwriter who began writing professionally at the age of sixteen. Since then she has written eleven well-reviewed books, including the best-selling series, The Horror Diaries, which has sold in six continents. Heather received an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree from university where she specialized in English and studied an array of disciplines. Currently, she is working on the Frostbitten series and has two anthologies slated for publication. As a screenwriter, Heather has multiple television shows and movies in development. Her short films include: Young Eyes, The Rarity, Too Sensible For Love, Circular, and the forthcoming Witch’s Brew. Besides writing, Heather’s greatest passion is the outdoors. She is an award-winning fisherwoman and a regular hiker. Her hobbies include swimming, playing badminton and volunteering with non-profit organizations.

The sun had just begun to set but its reflection on the lake could no longer be seen. A loon glided over the dark water and then landed with a gentle splash. It called loudly, as if speaking to an unknown presence.
I can’t believe it’s coming to an end,
Jade said, while admiring the serene beauty of a late summer’s evening.
It was worth it,
Russell replied.
I was referring to the summer.
So was I.
He paused briefly to brush aside the stray hairs which the wind had blown in her face. "When it comes to you and I, it was all worth it."
Jade reached for his hair and ran her fingers through the dark brown softness. Sighing, she begged, Never let me go.
Since Jade was already in Russell’s arms, he could only intensify his grip. The silence spoke volumes, especially when she placed her head on his chest and heard his rapid heartbeat.
Never,
he promised.
The strength of the wind increased, causing them to sway gently. They were in a hammock made for one.
We should go inside before the mosquitoes come out,
Jade advised.
Russell smirked with amusement. You said the exact same thing before falling asleep and...
Before the truth came out,
she interrupted.
The truth will set you free.
Russell laughed and then added, I don’t know how accurate that cliché is.
