      KNIGHTSBRIDGE

      KNIGHTSBRIDGE will get you started playing Bridge and provide a complete, integrated bidding system. Try to use all of it, though the conventions 2♦ Waiting, Michaels, Unusual NT, Cappelletti, Negative Doubles, and the transfer bids of Smolen and Jacoby, can each be added as and when you feel comfortable with them. Do not add or change any bids or Conventions until you fully understand the ramifications of such additions and subtractions. Keep in mind that the inclusion of any Convention will deny you the use of the ‘natural’ bid that the Convention bid replaces.

      Our system is basic Standard American featuring Strong 2 Club openings with Weak 2s and weak overcalls. Opening shape in a Suite is defined by opening, in order of preference: 5+cards in ♥ or ♠, 4+cards in ♦, and 2+cards in the ♣ Suit.

      My objective in writing this booklet is to provide a simple, competitive system which will get you to the right contract, challenge the opposition, and most importantly, ensure a lot of fun even on those days when it appears that you ‘didn’t get any cards.’
