    Kingpin Wifeys 5 - K Elliott

    CHAPTER 1

"Y ou sold my goddamned car!" Craig stood up from the sofa, his demeanor cold. He very much wanted to smack the fuck out of her, but he didn't want to have to explain to his wife how he'd gotten locked up for beating this crazy black bitch. Besides, Anne didn't know about the other Maserati.

I didn't sell the car, Jada said.

Craig presented her with the paperwork stating that the Maserati would be Joey Turch's in the event that she didn't pay the legal fees. She'd left the paperwork on the kitchen table.

Did you even read the damn paper? Where is my car? yelled Craig.

The attorney's got it until I give him five grand.

    What is this all about?

Jada hid her eyes. She couldn't look him. She was very ashamed.

Jada, what the hell is this about?

She sat on an armchair across from the sofa, still avoiding his eyes, gathering her thoughts, trying to think of half-truths, but there was nothing she could say to pacify him.

Is this about that drug-dealing thug of yours?

She met his eyes, a single tear rolled down her cheek. Yeah, he got into a little bit of trouble.

And he didn't have the money to get himself out?

    No.

    That's hard to believe.

    Why?

I have counted thousands of dollars in my office—money that you got from him.

Look, motherfucker, people go through hard times.

Okay, you're cursing me out? After you spent my money on him? You people, I tell you.

What the fuck is that supposed to mean?

He stood and paced. I can't believe you sold or pawned my goddamn car and now you're talking shit to me.

Look I'm sorry. I'm going to get the car back, and I'll sign it back over to you.

    You damn well better!

His angry tone was pissing her the fuck off.

    What? said Jada.

He walked over to her and said, I said you damn well better.

She pushed him back a little and said, Can you get the hell out of my personal space?

He eased back a little. I want my car back.

You're going to get your car.

You're such a disrespectful little bitch.

She stood and placed her pointing finger on the tip of his nose and said, I ain't going to be too many more bitches.

Jada, you need to leave. This is not working out.

Fine. Then she thought, where in the hell would she go? The house that she lived in with Shamari was months behind in the rent and she didn't want to go back to Louise's house. There was no way in hell she could survive in that dysfunctional situation.

She eased up to Craig and wrapped her arms around him and said, I'm truly sorry. I was wrong for doing this to you.

He hugged her back and said, Jada, you really, really, let me down.

She looked him in the eyes and said, I know I let you down, and I want to make it up to you.

I don't want no goddamned oral sex! I want my car.

I'm going to get the car back.

    Tell me what happened.

    Shamari got locked up.

    The Feds again?

    No.

    What happened?

A long story but basically he got set up. It was a deal gone bad, and this attorney, Joey Turch, needed the money right away.

Is that why you had me sign the car over in your name?

    No…I mean, yes.

    Yes or no.

Well, I was hoping I didn't have to sign the car over, but I wanted it in my name just in case I needed the money.

    You're so loyal to him?

I am, just like you're loyal to your wife.

He pushed her away. Leave my wife out of this.

    I'm sorry.

Look, I think you need to leave.

She stared at him but didn't say anything. She didn't have anything so say. She gathered her things and left for Skyy's house.

    CHAPTER 2

Mike called Lani. She answered on the second ring.

    Hello…Hello?

There was a sniffling sound like he was trying to get his thoughts together. Lani realized Mike was crying.

    Mike?

No answer. She glanced at her phone, she could see the call was still connected and she had a very good signal.

    Mike? You there?

    Yeah.

    What's wrong?

    It's Chris.

    What's wrong with Chris?

Chris's body was found in the trunk of an old Lincoln out in the country. Burned.

    You're kidding me, right?

He took a deep breath. I wish I was. I really wish I was, but my brother is dead and whoever did it, shot him in the head.

How did they know it was him?

    Dental records.

Lani sobbed, Please, Mike, tell me this is a bad joke.

    No, I wish it was.

I'm so sorry. Who could have done some shit like this? Then she thought about Black.

Mike said, I don't know, we're still trying to figure everything out.

Lani said, Me and Chris weren't on good terms, but I still cared.

I know you did. I'll talk to you later.

Please do, and let me know when the memorial service is.

    I will.

Lani hung the phone up. She started to call Chris's mother, but she didn't know what to say. She called Black right away.

    Hello? Black said.

    Chris is dead.

    Who?

    My ex.

Damn, that's fucked up. I'm sorry to hear that.

    I'm sure.

No seriously, I don't wish death upon nobody.

Okay, when can I see you?

Anytime, I can come by tonight if you want me to.

There was no way she wanted Black to come to her house at night. She didn't want him to think they'd be having sex. She said, Can you come in the morning?

I'll be busy all day tomorrow.

    Come by tonight.

Okay, I'll hit you up around eleven.

    That's too late.

    Ten?

    Okay.

Black called at 11:45 pm, Lani was in bed, but not asleep. She was thinking about Chris. She knew there would be no way she would get any sleep for the next couple of weeks. Black said he was around the corner. This would be the first visitor Lani had since she moved into her loft.

The code to the building is 618.

Black stepped into her place five minutes later without crutches, but with some old school walking cane. He looked like a pimp from the seventies. He eyed Lani completely, she was wearing a t-shirt and some pink boy-shorts that gripped her ass wonderfully, her legs glistened and she wore a vanilla scent. Black wanted to lay her right down on the floor and fuck her like an animal.

Nice place. Where is the furniture?

Don't have the money for it right now.

    Should have told me.

    Well, I'm telling you.

I'll send Kyrie over here tomorrow with some money.

Look, Black, you don't have to do that. You've done more than enough.

I know I don't have to do that. I wanna do it.

Okay, in the meantime, let's go to the bedroom.

Black smiled, Exactly where I wanna go.

I don't know why. Ain't shit going down.

He laughed and followed her to the bedroom. She sat on the bed. He tried to sit beside her and she directed him to a chair across from the bed.

She looked him in his eyes to see if he was hiding something. Same ol' Black.

So I can't get on the bed with you?

    Not right now.

    Wassup?

Well you know Chris got murdered.

    Good.

On the phone you said you were sorry to hear that, and that you wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Look, that nigga tried to kill me! He shot up your mama's house! Anybody could've gotten killed in there.

     Did you kill Chris?

    No.

    Did you have him killed?

Look, he paused then he said, No.

That's all I wanted to ask.

But was I gonna kill his punk ass?  Yes.

    That's a whole different matter.

Look, when you're heavy in the drug game, anything can and will happen. Black looked away for a brief second.

I understand that. But I just wanted to make sure you didn't have nothing to do with it.

    Why?

Because if you did it indirectly links it to me.

Listen, I'll never let you go down for anything. I'm a motherfuckin' man. I can do time.

It's not about being a man. This is a man that I lived with, slept with and  loved. Now he's dead. I don't want that on my conscience.

    "And it shouldn't
