Preface : Need and Purpose of a Home

Food and safety of life are two most basic requirements of living-beings for which they need to work. Humans work for a little more than that, say for luxuries and comforts of clothing and outlooks. The work is a chain of activities continuing for the whole life, because of the basic needs of food and safety continuing from birth to death. On time scale, work is divided into basic units of day's work after which a person needs respite from work which may also be called a recess. During this recess, the most important thing that a person does is relaxation from stresses of work. Duration, place and associations for the relaxation and as aids for it are collectively called HOME of the person.

In addition to the above-said relaxation as the basic provision of a home, a home has yet another purpose - to rear-up and gear-up children to be responsible and happy citizens of the World of tomorrow. This is essential for continuing life on the planet Earth with improvement in quality of life..

So, home is not only a physical location but also includes an environment congenial for relaxation and adequate growth. The environment is made with association of family members or like-minded persons, at a comfortably sheltering place, for a period long enough to wipe out stresses of work from the minds of the persons sharing the home. Thus, a home essentially has three cofactors - a shelter, an association and an environment suiting all the family members.

Since a home is basically meant to wipe off stresses, no place or association or environment can make-up a home if it produces more of stresses in the person's mind. Tragedy of life of most of the modern humans is that they don't make or find homes for themselves, but just a place for change of routines from those of the work place. Here is an outline of making and being at home for individuals, like the birds have their nests for relaxing and rearing their offspring.

    My Direct Experience and Feelings

At the tender age of 12, I moved out of my home for education. Being as an Engineering Professional through education and employment thereafter, I was married to a girl who never knew what a home is. Hence, she miserably failed in being a Home-Maker for my family. She is psychologically sick and not apt in any other human functions too, hence proved to be a useless burden on my shoulders. Therefore, I remained a Homeless person, until my anxiety of being homeless overpowered me, made me to detach from the errand wife, and planned to make a Home of my own. After being Homeless for half a century, I build a Home with my own hands with meticulous planning at every stage and using all my faculties of sensibility and sensitivity which had been developing within me for over 18,000 days of my homelessness. The building-up process is going to take about 7 long years of my matured life. This makes me confident in my knowledge about a Home. To sum-up all I know about a Home, a Home is well-knit psychological build-up, composed of four principal elements -

    A Family with a Full-time Home-Maker,

A Building tailor-made for satisfying Psychological Needs of Family Members,

A Garden attached to the Home, and most importantly,

Disciplined Conduct of Every Family Member

Here I am to give expression to my knowledge about a Human Home which I gathered through my deepest feelings when I was deficient of a Home for myself. I thought over, I designed and redesigned, and I built-up, and finally experienced with pride of finding shelter in my own Home.

    About The Author

Section A - Understanding Human Life

A1 : Human Life as Superset of Natural Life

Natural life means living solely dependent on Nature on whatever she provides for survival of life or its destruction. A huge number of forms of life exist with sole dependence on the Nature, to survive on food available naturally whenever atmospheric conditions of temperature, pressure, moisture, etc are congenial to life, and get destroyed if the food becomes unavailable or the atmospheric conditions becomes intolerable.

Life has a naturally built-in protective mechanism composed of 'instincts' like those of Survival - running to safety on facing danger, Procreation - producing sexually or asexually own forms of life for continuing the species on the Earth, and Adaptation - changing the self for improving chances of survival through adapting to prevailing conditions. The last instinct causes process of evolution through which different species of life evolved under different situations.

The process of adaptation is much slower than that of destruction of life due to inclement environment. Since changes in atmospheric conditions are fast and many time unpredictable, mass-scale destruction of life takes place very often. To safeguard against destruction of a species on the Earth, the Nature adopts the strategy of producing life forms of every species in huge numbers, so as to save at least a few from mass-scale destruction
